El Audi RS Q3 It is the sportiest and most radical version of the conventional Q3. Even though SUVs aren't supposed to be raced, Audi wants to demonstrate the impressive potential of his model, capable of facing more sporty models. The RS Q3 is the pinnacle of the range, excess for excess and top performance at its best.

The RS units follow in the footsteps of the models from which they are derived, in this case the Listen Q3. That means that in terms of generations it follows the same progression as its conventional brother. The first of the Q3 that came to light did so in 2011, although its corresponding sports version did not do so until two years later, in 2013.

Today the Q3 lives its second generation, presented in 2018. The second generation RS Q3 made an appearance just a year later, seeing the great success that the first edition accumulated. One more time exposes the capabilities of the C-SUV to the limitboth in looks and performance. Once again it reaches the extreme.

Technical characteristics of the Audi RS Q3

Everything starts from the same base as the conventional Q3. The Audi RS Q3 mounts the Volkswagen Group MQB platform. The same used by many other products of the German conglomerate. Based on this structure, the engineers tweak it so that it can cope with much more demanding behavior and performance. Suspensions are modified, reinforcements are added and reinforcement bars are included throughout the set.

Logically these modifications have concluded with a change in the dimensions of the car itself. The measurements of an Audi RS Q3 remain in 4,5 meters long, 1,85 meters wide and 1,6 meters high. A slightly higher height due to a larger rim in the standard finish. To these proportions must be added a wheelbase that reaches up to 2,68 meters. More than enough measure for five passengers to take shelter inside.

We must not forget, despite the power, that the RS Q3 is an SUV with a certain familiar touch. That is noticeable in interesting aspects such as the capacity of the trunk and the versatility of its interior. The rear bench can be moved longitudinally, so we can gain or lose space depending on the needs. Thanks to this, the trunk varies its figures: 530 liters of minimum capacity and 1.525 liters of maximum capacity.

Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Audi RS Q3

As for the mechanical offer, the Audi RS Q3 boasts a single possible combination. As we have already said, it is the most powerful version that the Q3 family can have. To ensure maximum use of power, Audi offers as standard the house typical quattro all-wheel drive system. This ensures optimal performance while extending security.

Under the hood of the RS Q3 we find a turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine with 2.480 cubic centimeters. Deliver a maximum of 400 horsepower and a torque of 480 Nm between 1.950 and 5.850 laps. The transmission is entrusted to a seven-speed double-clutch S Tronic box that manages to keep consumption balanced in relation to performance. 9,8 liters on average for every 100 kilometers travelled.

In terms of performance, Audi ensures that the RS Q3 is capable of being measured against purebred sports cars. For this, it delivers extraordinary performance figures. From 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,5 seconds and limited top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. To support such performance, 255/40 R20 tires are fitted on both axles.

Equipment of the Audi RS Q3

When it comes to equipping the Audi RS Q3, those from Ingolstadt have chosen to include a lot of equipment as it is the highest model in the range. Unlike its more timid and commercial brothers, the bet focuses on offering a wide level of load from the access and then offer a long list of optional items that will allow expanding the technological spectrum while increasing customization.

In the standard equipment we come across elements such as 20-inch wheels, LED headlights, light and rain sensors, sport seats, leather/Alcantara upholstery, dual-zone climate control, digital instrument cluster and multimedia system with connection for mobile devices among other elements. Also noteworthy is the presence of a modest but large team of driving assistants.

But that's just a sample of the many systems that can be included in the Audi RS Q3. To this we can add an almost total degree of customization thanks to the exclusive program, and also improvements in certain dynamic sections such as the carbon brakes or a sports exhaust system, for instance. Of course, all these components are expensive, but they will be necessary if we want to take advantage of the performance with the maximum security guarantee.
