El Ford Fiesta It is an institution in itself. It is one of the most popular models of Ford in Europe, given its long commercial career and its great accumulated successes. The Fiesta has become, in its own right, one of the references in the small car segment. It is a global product, although for Europe there are small changes due to regulations and the more refined taste of drivers.
We have tested this car:
Test of the new Ford Fiesta ST-Line X 1.0 EcoBoost 155 hpTest Ford Fiesta ST 1.5 EcoBoost 200 CV (with video)Test Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost 125 CV Titanium (with video)The Fiesta is the smallest model that the American firm has in its ranks, just below the Ford Focus. The first of its generations dates back to 1976. Its birth was a consequence of the oil crisis of those years, when all manufacturers sought to reduce consumption by creating smaller and more efficient models. For Europe it is manufactured exclusively at the Ford plant in the United Kingdom.
We are currently receiving the seventh of its generations, officially presented in 2017, and which is being intensively updated in 2021.. Everything about it is brand new. Design, technology, interior, chassis and mechanics. As always, it offers a driving feel that focuses more on dynamics than comfort. It is one of the most fun utility vehicles on sale, with the Ford Fiesta ST version leading the segment. Sadly, at the beginning of 2023, Ford announces the end of the Fiesta. It is not yet known if it will have a replacement.
Technical characteristics of the Ford Fiesta
The seventh generation of the Ford Fiesta comes to market completely renovated compared to its predecessor. Under its aesthetic bodywork is the B2E platform. This is a more modern version of the previous structure. It has been developed in collaboration with Mazda, and we can see it in many other models such as the Ford Ecosport, Ford Puma or even the Ford Transit Courier.
For its latest generation, the Fiesta has grown externally to 4,05 meters long by 1,73 meters wide and 1,48 meters high. Slightly larger dimensions, mainly in length, 4,09 metres, for the sportier finishes due to the presence of more voluminous bumpers. To these dimensions we must add a wheelbase of 2,49 metres. A wheelbase that allows it to homologate an interior space for a maximum of five passengers.
Three of them located in a rear row with a bit of a shortage in terms of shoulder distance and legroom. The Ford Fiesta offers a minimum boot volume of 303 litres (311 litres for the Fiesta ST), which can be extended to 984 if the rear row of seats is folded down. It is sold in three- and five-door versions, although the former is only available in the ST trim level.
Ford Fiesta mechanical range and gearboxes
One of the central axes of the 2021 update is the mechanical offering. The entire range has been revised for the seventh generation, using high-efficiency technologies such as Mild-Hybrid systems, thus completely abandoning diesel engines. The mechanical portfolio presents five gasoline versions with or without MHEV systems.
All units send power to the front axle without exception. As for the range, starts with the 1.0 EcoboostIt is a small, three-cylinder, 999 cc naturally aspirated engine that develops 125 horsepower and 170 Nm of torqueUnlike other models in the range, this version does not have a micro-hybrid system that allows it to be approved with the DGT ECO label.
The first of that family is the Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost MHEV with 125 hp, the only model in the range to be able to mount a Powershift automatic transmission. Above we find the 1.0 Ecoboost MHEV 155 hp. The most powerful of the family is the Fiesta STIt uses a three-cylinder, turbocharged 1.5 EcoBoost engine that develops 200 horsepower and 290 Nm of torqueThis unit has a specific aesthetic and set-up.
Ford Fiesta Equipment
From the inside, the Ford Fiesta appears to be a typical B-segment model. The quality perceived by passengers is correct, showing good finishes and adjustments. Typical of the American brand, with a great feeling of durability. Thanks to the 2021 update, the technological equipment is improved, allowing you to enjoy the latest generation elements previously released by the Puma, such as digital instrumentation.
As is usual for Ford, the range of equipment is structured in different levels and steps. From lowest to highest price they are: Active, ST Line, Active X, ST Line X and ST. The latter is only available with the most powerful mechanical variant of all. The differences between them are not only centered on the equipment, but also on the finishes and design, being able to opt for a more elegant model by choosing the Vignale version or a more country-style one with the Active line, which also has specific design details.
As far as equipment is concerned, the Fiesta is capable of displaying many elements. Noteworthy are the presence of: LED headlights, keyless entry and start, digital instrument panel with 12,3-inch screen, sunroof, instrument panel with 4,2-inch color screen, SYNC3 multimedia system with 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, climate control, reversing camera and a complete set of driving assistants and safety features.

The Km 0 and second-hand Ford Fiesta
If we talk about the Ford Fiesta, we are talking about an institution in the utility segment. Its almost 40 years of existence and its seven generations make it a very popular model in secondary sales markets. The offer is counted in thousands, and with them We estimate a depreciation value of around 34%, one of the highest figures in its category due to the excessive supply available.
If we take a look at the second-hand market, The cheapest prices correspond to the third and fourth generation units., around 400 euros at the start. Older models are starting to appreciate in value as there are fewer and fewer of them in circulation.
