Mercedes-Benz it has set out to dominate all categories of the incipient electricity market. While other manufacturers are presenting the first units of the house, Mercedes already has seven completely different units. The Mercedes EQE SUV is the last to be presented in society. An electric SUV that represents the farewell of the Mercedes EQC, the first with which those from Stuttgart began this path of mobility.

Although Mercedes reels off the EQE information for months, the official presentation takes place in the fall of 2022, in the surroundings of the Paris Motor Show. It ranks as the second largest model within the EQ SUV range, below the superlative Mercedes EQS SUV and above mercedes eqb. The EQC will return to the market to adapt to measures more in line with its name.

Technical characteristics of the Mercedes EQE SUV

On a technical level, the engineers have worked to make the EQE SUV an electric model of great value. With a design very similar to the one we can see in the corresponding sedan, the mercedes eqe, the SUV version rests on the same EVA 2 platform, which in turn can be seen in other electric models of the German family such as Mercedes EQS. In this case it has been adapted to fit the specific measurements of the D-SUV segment.

Outwardly it reaches significant levels of size. The concrete measures are: 4,86 meters long, 1,94 meters wide and 1,69 meters high. To these levels must be added a wheelbase of 3,03 meters, which translates into a cabin for a maximum of five passengers, three of them located in a very generous rear row in terms of its proportions and that can accommodate three adults quite comfortably.

Regarding load capacity, the Mercedes EQE SUV offers a trunk with a minimum capacity of 520 liters. Thanks to a longitudinally adjustable rear bench seat, the space can vary depending on the needs. At maximum capacity it manages to offer a maximum of 1.675 liters, obtained by folding down the second row of seats completely. As additional information, say that the EQE SUV achieves a drag coefficient of 0,25, which allows it to be one of the best in the world.

Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Mercedes EQE SUV

Like all models in the EQ range, the EQE SUV exclusively offers electric versions. The range includes different units, although they all have a very similar structure. The main connection element is the self-made lithium-ion battery that has a net capacity of 90,6 kWh. This can be connected to one or two electric motors, in which case they generate an all-wheel drive system.

The range starts with EQE SUV 350+, has 292 horsepower, 565 Nm of torque and an approved autonomy of 590 kilometers of autonomy. Next on the ranks is EQE SUV 350 4MATIC dual motor; offers 292 horsepower, 765 Nm of torque and 558 kilometers of autonomy approved in the WLTP cycle. The most powerful of the conventional range is the EQE SUV 500 4MATIC with 408 horsepower, 858 Nm of torque and 547 kilometers of approved autonomy.

Above all these units are the models powered by the AMG division, which manage to maximize the performance and benefits of the electric SUV. In a first performance range is the EQE SUV AMG 43 4MATIC with 476 horsepower, 858 Nm of torque and an approved range of up to 488 kilometers. The most powerful of the family is the EQE SUV AMG 53 4MATIC with up to 687 horsepower, 1.000 Nm of torque and up to 470 kilometers of approved autonomy.

Equipment of the Mercedes EQE SUV

Behind the scenes, Mercedes wants to continue showing why everyone considers it a premium brand. Models such as the EQE SUV or EQS SUV are at the top of the fleet in terms of equipment and finishes. The best materials and the best manufacturing processes are reserved for them. Its assembly is carried out at the Mercedes plant in Tuscaloosa, in the United States.

At the moment Mercedes has not communicated how the range of equipment will be composed, although the usual trim levels and a long list of optional items are expected. The AMG aesthetic package is expected to be one of the preferred options by buyers, attracted by its greater sporty presence with particular elements.

As far as equipment is concerned, the Mercedes EQE SUV offers the latest advances from the house, highlighting the imposing Hyperscreen system that transforms the entire front of the dashboard into a large digital surface. Three screens focus all the attention, although elements such as LED matrix headlights, electric seats with massage, parking cameras, heat pump air conditioning, augmented reality and much more, including state-of-the-art security equipment, should also be highlighted.

At the end of 2023, In the Euro NCAP tests, the Mercedes EQE SUV obtains five safety stars, the highest possible score. The results in the different sections are as follows: 87 out of 100 in protection of adult passengers, 90 out of 100 in protection of child passengers, 80 out of 100 in pedestrian vulnerability and 85 out of 100 in effectiveness of its safety team and assistants. All this makes it one of the safest electric SUVs on the market.

Rivals of the Mercedes EQE SUV

The premium segment is leading the sales of electric models. Although the demand is still low, the offer is mainly focused on the higher categories, where the price does not influence the sales process as much. In the electric D-SUV category we find rivals similar to the Mercedes EQE SUV, as is the case with the Polestar 3, Bmw iX, Volvo EX90 or Tesla Model Y. All of them with a similar approach in terms of size, features and price.

Price of the Mercedes EQE SUV

The renewed EQE SUV has been available in the markets since early 202. For Spain, the price of the Mercedes EQE SUV starts at 86.789 euros, without offers or promotions. That amount is associated with the EQE 350+ version with 292 horsepower and 617 kilometers of autonomy. The most expensive of the family is the AMG EQE 53 4 MATIC SUV with 625 horsepower and 451 kilometers of approved autonomy. Its basic rate starts at 126.214 euros, without offers or promotions.
