The Renault Capture is the B-segment SUV of the French company. Presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, it shares a platform with the fourth generation Clio, and is manufactured in Valladolid. In 2017 it received a restyling.

Technical characteristics of the Renault Capture

Its dimensions are 4,12 meters long, 1,78 meters wide and 1,55 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2,60 meters. On the other hand, its trunk varies between 377 and 455 liters because the rear bench is sliding, which will allow you to gain some cargo capacity.

As usual in this type of vehicles, has enough space for four people, while the fifth, which will be housed in the center rear seat, will travel in a more uncomfortable way due to its width.

The French SUV's motorization offer is quite extensive, with six different engines. As for gasoline, the 0.9 TCe with 90 hp, the 1.2 TCe with 120 hp and the 1.3 TCe with 150 hp are available.

The diesel offer is composed by a 1.5-horsepower 90 dCi engine, a 1.5-horsepower 90 dCi engine that Renault calls eco2, and the most powerful variant, a 1.5-horsepower 110 dCi propeller.

Renault eco2 certification means that the vehicle is capable of emitting values of less than 140 g/km of CO2, and that it is manufactured in an industrial plant certified to ISO 14001.

Regarding gearboxes, the 120 and 150 hp TCe engines, along with the 90 hp dCi, are the only ones capable of mounting Renault's EDC automatic gearbox. While the manual gearboxes differ in two, 5-speed, available in the TCe 90 hp, dCi 90 hp and dCi 90 hp eco2, while the 6-speed gearboxes are available in the dCi 110 hp, TCe 120 hp and TCe 150 hp.

The Renault Captur, as in its range of engines, is quite complete in terms of equipment levels. Four finishes are available, ordered from least to greatest number of series components are: Life, Intens, Zen and S-Edition.

It offers basic elements as standard, incorporating elements such as opening and starting card, electric rear windows, emergency braking assistance or electric and anti-frost exterior mirrors.

Renault Capture according to EuroNCAP

Despite the fact that the Captur carried out the European EuroNCAP safety tests in 2013, the French SUV obtained very good scores, reaching the 5 stars in safety testsd.

By sections, the Renault Captur achieved 88% in safety for the adult occupant and 79% for child occupants, while the protection for pedestrians remained at 61% and the security assistants scored 81%. Generally very good scores.
