The change in mobility has suited the SEAT Mii Electric very well. Although it has been on the market for a few years, it has gone unnoticed by it. Nevertheless SEAT has decided to pick it up to start its portfolio of electric models. Thermal units for the conventional SEAT Mii are still present, but given the increasingly strict European emission regulations, their days are numbered.
Technical characteristics of the SEAT Mii Electric
SEAT has decided to try to make the Mii Electric as cheap and accessible as possible in order to reach out to buyers looking for a reasonably priced electric. For that reason there has been no change of chassis with respect to the thermal models. The engineers have managed to mount the entire electrical scheme on the same platform.
This means that SEAT has not changed the dimensions of its small electric car. 3,55 meters long, 1,64 meters wide and 1,48 meters high. To that we must add a battle of 2,42 meters. A fair distance that allows to accommodate up to a maximum of four passengers inside.
Although the Mii Electric is not approved for five occupants, its load capacity is good despite its dimensions and segment. The trunk shows a minimum capacity of 252 liters Easily expandable to a maximum capacity of 923 liters by simply folding down the rear row of seats.
Mechanical range and gearboxes of the SEAT Mii Electric
The use of the same platform as the thermal versions might sound botched, but the reality is that the result is very good. The SEAT Mii Electric has a water-cooled lithium-ion battery with 36,8 kWh capacity. It is located throughout the lower part of the car, which gives it advantages in habitability and driving thanks to a really low center of gravity.
To this battery is connected a front electric motor that develops 83 hp and 212 Nm of torque. Thanks to this scheme a really good autonomy is extracted. According to the homologation data, the SEAT Mii Electric is capable of reaching a 259 kilometer range in WLTP cycle. A distance that makes it one of the best urban electric cars currently on the market.
As for the delicate loading times, SEAT proposes various solutions. Depending on the type of cable, we can speed up or slow down the recharging time. Between one hour on a 40 kW DC outlet and 16 hours if we plug it into the typical 10-amp, 2,3-kW home port.
SEAT Mii Electric equipment
Although its autonomy is worthy of higher segments, the SEAT Mii Electric is an urban car from segment A that must keep prices low. For this reason, its equipment, although without being bad, is nothing remarkable. It has all the necessary and precise elements to move around the city comfortably but without luxuries. SEAT offers us two equipment alternatives: Mii Electric and Mii Electric Plus.
In the access model we already have elements that will make life on board much easier, such as the automatic climate control, signal recognition or lane keeping assistant. But to that we can also add a five-inch color display for the sound system and a connectivity system for mobile devices.
The jump to the best equipped model allows us to have light and rain sensors, heated sports front seats, darkened rear windows, fog lights and an improved sound system. As for the charging cables, the SEAT Mii Electric arrives with a mode 3 cable for loads up to 7,2 kW but also offers a mode 2 cable as an option.

Safety has always been relatively elusive for smaller cars. Being designed for urban use with low-speed routes, the protection measures have always been minor. That is the case of SEAT Mii Electric that only gets three of the five possible stars. Although it shows good values for the protection of adult and child occupants, it fails miserably in the protection of pedestrians and driving assistants.
