BYD is the largest producer of electric cars in the world. This position and fame has not been earned by "the art of birlibirloque" but rather by hard work. We have the proof that their products are at great heights in the commercial debut they have had on European soil. The Act 3 y Dolphin They are carving out their respective niches in the market and, it seems, at a good pace. However, its global presence is very powerful.
As you already know BYD also manufactures "conventional" vehicles equipped with thermal engines. They are the least but they are still important depending on which parts of the world it is. And not only that, its hybrid technology is present in other models such as the BYD EV Pick Up that they are developing. In fact, this last model is one of those affected by the impertinent leaks. Its design has been revealed and perhaps it sounds familiar to you…
The BYD EV Pick Up, mysteriously, looks a lot like the Ford Ranger…
Thanks to the Chinese website Autohome we have had access to the photos that correspond to the patent of the BYD EV Pick Up. In them you can see, practically on all four sides, the final design that the pickup that the Chinese firm is developing will have. And, to be honest, there are two options. One: They have copied the style of the last generation Ford Ranger. Two: They have hired the designer who created the best-selling Blue Oval model.
Just take a look at its front to see the generous C-shaped optics. There is also the considerable size grill with the letters "BYD" with a design very similar to those of the Yankee pickup. The bumper is also very similar with simple lines to facilitate good off-road performance. There is also a similarity on the side but it is not something unique to this pickup as practically all models in this segment use the same effects.
In last place is the rear. This view seeks to differentiate itself from the Ford pickup but it does not fully succeed either. The reason is that it has some rectangular optics that, waiting to see the final ones, They look like those used by the Ranger. The differentiating element between one model and another is that the BYD ones seem to they are united in the center. However, until it officially debuts we will not know what the final result is.
For now, it is known that it is hybrid and that it will have about 364 kW of power…
Leaving aside the well-known design of the BYD EV Pick Up, we must move on to comment on what is known, and not known, about its technique. All sources indicate that its powertrain is not one hundred percent electric but hybrid. In fact, under its hood there will be a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with 103 kW (140 hp) which is associated with a pair of electric motors. Thanks to them, it can also offer four-wheel drive.
Apparently the combined power of the hybrid powertrain would be 364 kW (495 hp). This performance is a relevant fact as it would place it above even the Ranger Raptor. Of course, it is still not known what the size of the battery or its main features are. off-road dimensions (entry, ventral, exit angles and fording capacity). And it also remains to be known what its transmission, payload or towing capacity will be like...
However, it is estimated that BYD EV Pick Up will debut sometime in 2024. Therefore, we will have to be very attentive to the news that may come from the brand. Above all, because although this model is not ideal for the European market, we could see a commercial offensive to reduce sales from the Toyota Hilux and CÍA... Who knows if when the one hundred percent electric version arrives Yes, they dare, they bring it and it is successful...
