Electric mobility represents the future in the medium and short term in the world of motorsports. There are more and more 100% electric models on sale. The current ones represent the first steps of each house within this new mobility. The Jaguar I PACE It is the first 100% electric car from the English house. A high-performance model with the look of an SUV.
Those of Coventry presented it to the world in the year 2016 during the celebration of the Los Angeles International Show. A launch that is not without meaning since it is the American continent that can attract the most sales Jaguar. Despite this, we are talking about a global model and for sale all over the world.
It is the third SUV that the English brand puts on the streets, behind the Jaguar F‑PACE and Jaguar E PACE, placing itself right in the middle and being considered as a group D SUV. In 2020 there is a very slight update in the range of the first electric of the house. Minimal changes that are applied in different fields such as mechanical, equipment and also aesthetic. In no case is the range extended with the arrival of new mechanical variants.
Technical characteristics of the Jaguar I-PACE
The Jaguar I-Pace is the model with the highest technological load that the British manufacturer has ever offered. For their develpment, the firm's engineers used the D7e platform. It is a new construction architecture specific for electric models and that in the future will be used in more models, from SUVs to conventional saloons.
Being located in the D-SUV segment, its measurements give it away: 4,68 meters long, 1,89 meters wide and 1,56 meters high. To these levels we must add a generous wheelbase, 2.99 meters. Thanks to it, a great interior roominess is offered with capacity for a maximum of five passengers.
As for its load capacity, given that the battery pack is placed in the lower part of the car to reduce the center of gravity, the trunk has a minimum of 505 liters and a maximum of 1.163 liters. Another relevant fact about the Jaguar I-PACE is its weight, nothing more and nothing less than 2.208 kilograms on the scale. A high figure that is distributed 50% between its two axes.
Jaguar I-PACE mechanical range and gearboxes
The mechanical offering of the Jaguar I-PACE is made up exclusively of an electric powertrain. It's formed by two electric motors permanent magnet synchronous (one on each axis). It only has one version, whose final combined power is 400 hp and 696 Nm of maximum torque.
Both thrusters are powered by a lithium ion battery, liquid-cooled, with a 90 kWh energy capacity. Thanks to it, it offers an autonomy, according to the WLTP approval protocol, of up to 470 kilometers in combined cycle. For its management, it has an automatic transmission of a single speed plus reverse.
This set provides the I-PACE with an efficient AWD all-wheel drive system, where each electric motor is responsible for moving its corresponding axle. It achieves remarkable performance, with a acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4,8 seconds. The maximum speed is limited, to save energy, to 200 kilometers per hour.
Jaguar I-PACE equipment
Although we are talking about a new model for Jaguar, the quality remains exactly the same as what we have always known in the house. That means that the I-PACE has a very well finished interior. Quality materials and good adjustments that translate into a great sense of quality perceived by all occupants.
The electrical concept is associated with a new technological concept. An electric car like the Jaguar I-PACE is also sold as a high-tech car. This is delivered staggered in different equipment levels: SE and HSE. At each level we can slightly modify the exterior aesthetics of the car, mainly thanks to the increase in the size of the wheels, being able to go from 18 to 20 inches.
But focusing more closely on the equipment itself, it is worth noting the presence of elements such as: LED matrix headlights, electric tailgate, leather upholstery, electric and heated seats, four-zone climate control, 10-inch touchscreen multimedia system, connectivity for mobile devices, voice control and much more. Of course, an extensive and outstanding safety team and driving assistants are also included.

Jaguar I-PACE according to Euro NCAP
El Jaguar I PACE It has been one of the great revelations in the impact test carried out by the Euro NCAP consortium. In the different tests to which he was subjected, he obtained an exceptional rating: 5 stars. Especially outstanding have been the results obtained in the protection of adult passengers, 91 out of 100. Also notable have been the values obtained in protection of child passengers and operation of driving assistants, 81 out of 100. The least positive data has been vulnerability in front of pedestrians, with a 73 out of 100.
The Jaguar I-PACE of Km 0 and second hand
Despite its SUV form, the Jaguar I-PACE is not the best-selling model of the English house in our country. The high sale price and the complications inherent in an electric have caused its sales to be relatively low. This causes second-hand and second-hand channels are devoid of units for sale. Despite this, we have 2018 options for a starting price close to 60.000 euros.
Although second-hand supply is low, Km 0 units are just as numerous. Dealerships accumulate units in stock before possible quick sales. In these cases, yes, the sale price is high, starting at a minimum amount of 83.000 euros. A slightly lower figure compared to a factory unit. This causes many potential customers to opt for completely new units adjusted to their tastes and needs.
Jaguar I-PACE rivals
Little by little, the electric segment increases its sales. More and more brands and models are encouraged to launch electric models. An important part of them get the premium category. For this reason the I-PACE has more and more rivals to stand up to. The main ones are: BMW iX3, Audi e-tron, Mercedes EQC y Tesla Model X. The three are contenders mainly for sale price and size, although the Jaguar is the one that offers the best dynamic dimensions of the four.
