The Chinese automobile industry has not had a great impact on the European market. However, in recent years the trend is in a clear process of change. New players have appeared like DFSK extension and Lynk & Co. Brands marketed under the umbrella of large producers who want to attract customers with products as interesting as Lynk & Co 01, the first product of the firm to reach the old continent.
Behind the firm Lynk & Co hides one of the largest automotive groups in the world, the Geely Group, owner of different companies such as Lotus o Volvo. The 01 tries to position itself as one more among the competitive European generalist segment. It is a compact SUV that has to face one of the toughest competitions on the market, with rivals with much more name and travel.
Although it was not until 2021 when the product began its sale in Europe, It has been on sale since 2017, although it was originally called Geely CX11. The 01 is only the first product of the firm to arrive, but after it the landing of more models and more bodies is expected. From larger SUVs to conventional sedans. All this supported by a high-efficiency strategy with electrified motors.
Technical characteristics of the Lynk & Co 01
Being part of a large automobile conglomerate, the 01 uses components that we have already seen in other products. Under its eccentric bodywork hides the CMA platform shared with Volvo. It is a compact modular architecture that has been used in other models such as the Volvo XC40. In fact, many more things are shared with the Swedish model.
As we have already said, its size positions it squarely in the European C-SUV segment. Its outer dimensions reach 4,54 meters long, 1,86 meters wide and 1,69 meters high. To these measures must be added a wheelbase of 2,73 meters. A battle that allows to offer an approved interior space for a maximum of five passengers. The rear three have ample legroom.
The Lynk & Co 01 has preferred to give more space to the occupants than to the load, for this reason it offers a well-proportioned trunk but slightly smaller than its closest rivals. It has 466 liters of minimum load capacity, expandable to 1.231 liters when the last row of seats is folded down completely. This volume is delivered in all versions, regardless of the chosen mechanical variant.
Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Lynk & Co 01
The European Union requires the most restrictive emission limits in the world. The entire car park must be subject to the new regulations, and that means including electrification systems in most cases. The Lynk & Co 01 offers a modern mechanical range limited to just a plug-in hybrid that bears the DGT ZERO label.
The 01 plug-in hybrid has a three-cylinder gasoline engine that joins a front electric motor and a lithium-ion battery with 14,1 kWh of useful capacity. Thanks to this set, it offers maximum output performance of 261 horsepower and 425 Nm of torque. Its electric autonomy allows it to shoot a maximum approved distance of up to 75 kilometers. For recharging, it exclusively has alternating current power supplies. On a 2,3 kW domestic outlet it takes 7 hours to recover its entire battery.
Equipment of the Lynk & Co 01
From doors inside, 01 shows a state-of-the-art interior. It is composed of materials with a quality slightly higher than the standard of the general segment. It offers good finishes and a sense of perceived quality of consideration by using many common elements in Volvo. To all this we must add a lot of technology, presented in a very striking way.
As is customary for Asian models, the equipment packages are very closed. As such, a staggered range is not presented where the customer can choose to include more or less equipment. In this case the Lynk & Co 01 bases its range on the engines, and within them a closed equipment is offered without the possibility of change or customization beyond aesthetic details such as paintings.
As far as equipment is concerned, nothing is left unturned and it includes many elements that today are considered essential or habitual. It is worth highlighting such interesting elements as: panoramic roof, LED headlights, keyless entry and start, connectivity for mobile devices, induction charger, digital instrument cluster, 12,3-inch touchscreen multimedia system and a wide catalog of driving assistants and safety elements.

By sections, the results are as follows: 96 out of 100 in adult passenger protection, 87 out of 100 in child passenger protection, 71 out of 100 in pedestrian vulnerability and 81 out of 100 in driving assistants.
Rivals of the Lynk & Co 01
Although we are talking about a new model, the segment in which it is integrated is not, in fact it is the most popular and confronted of the old continent. C-SUVs or compact SUVs are the best sellers and for this reason all brands bid to conquer sales with at least one model. The toughest rivals of 01 are: Hyundai Tucson, KIA Sportage, SEAT Ateca, Skoda Karoq, Peugeot 3008, Citroen C5 Aircross, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Volkswagen Tiguan, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Qashqai, Opel Grandland y Renault Kadjar, among others. All of them are similar in size and price, although few offer a mechanical range as electrified as the Chinese model.
