A breath of "new" air comes to the electric market with the Drako GTE

The wise Spanish proverb says "dress me slowly, I'm in a hurry". This maxim can be applied to almost any aspect of life, but the automotive industry does not get along with it. In it, advances are given for days and delayed with some launch, or entry in certain segmentcan be a real failure. However, there are firms and models that do not seem to care, as is the case with Drake GTE.

El Drake GTE is the first model of this small firm based in California, USA. The most impressive of all is that his engineering team has taken no less than 10 years to complete its development. All in all, the important thing is that he is already among us, making his debut at the Pebble Beach Contest of Elegance that has taken place these days.

The Drako GTE hides the original Fisker Karma in its guts

On an aesthetic level, the most striking Drake GTE is its resemblance to another model. If we do a little memory, we can see under its lines the deceased Fisker Karma (sold today as Karma Revero). This is because your chassis and main mechanical organs come from this model. However, the Drako model has its own elements, keeping the most interesting aspect, a practical sedan body with four entrances.

El front of the GTE is chaired by some optical groups, with LED technology, ripped design. Below them we find a generously sized air inlet flanked by two located at the ends of the bumper. The side view is the same as the one on the Karma Revero, looking modified on the alloy wheels. Finally, the rear has more aggressive lines, highlighting above all the integrated spoiler and the optical groups.

This is the aspect where there are more differences between the Drako model and the Karma Revero. The GTE is powered by four electric motors, one on each wheel. The joint power, which they deliver, is 1.200 CV with a maximum torque of 8.800 rpm. This cavalry reaches the ground through all four wheels, thanks to an effective torque vectoring system. According to the brand, its set-up has been carried out on the German Nürburgring circuit.

To power the four motors, it has a lithium ion battery with 90 kWh of energy capacity. As a whole, the features of the Drako GTE are impressive, signing a maximum speed of 332 kilometers per hour. In spite of everything, those responsible have not reported on recharging times or autonomy, they have only clarified that the load can be made up to 150 kW of power.

Taking into account the technical data, it is likely that you can exceed the 400 kilometers between recharges. However, and despite the decade that they have needed for its development, Drako Motors is convinced of the possibilities of the GTE. Its production is announced for 2020 and from their facilities they will leave 25 units at a price that will start in 1,25 million. It will be necessary to see if they are all sold and what reception the public offers them.
