The game of trade names in the automotive sector goes a long way. As a general rule, premium signatures tend to use alphanumeric combinations. Audi is one of the most profitable, although if we take a look at the range of BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the equation does not seem to make sense. Then, on the other hand, there are the general firms, which they usually use to designate their models more "common" denominations.

In this case it is about words that have some meaning for the brand or the market Diana. In addition, there are cases such as McLaren, Ferrari or Maserati, which have the luxury of using the trade name that best suits them. Thus we come to the example of the Woking house. In the first moment they used names like MP4-12C or F1. Later they were Elva, Artura or Senna. But beware, new products could come with this pattern.

As we have known, McLaren's legal team has applied for legal protection for three names. Naturally, the body to which they have submitted the documentation is the United Kingdom Patent and Trademark Office. It was a handful of days ago, so they are still under study. Of course, we already know what it is: Solus, Aeron y Aonic. At first they may sound Chinese, but it seems that there is an explanation for each of them.

The first is Aeron. Apparently it could have been a post-roman kingdom in what is now southern Scotland or a Welsh war goddess who also referred to a river or a berry. The second is Solus. It comes from the Latin and means alone or unaccompanied. lastly is Aonic. Apparently, it is a word that usually appears in science fiction novels but it could also refer to a type of Australian paraglider.

And here we can read. The reason is simple: McLaren has limited itself to indicating that these names will be used in «land motor vehicles or automobiles, parts and accessories". How these will be or what kind of powertrain will move them is unknown, although we could bet that it could be electric or hybrid. We will have to wait for their use and enjoyment to be granted, but it looks good...
