It must also change the way in which they have to develop their future models, it does not matter if they are passenger cars or vans. We have already told you about the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter on occasion. The first time was in October 2018 when an internal document from the Bavarian brand was leaked. In him, besides others, came the electric evolution of its most mythical and well-known van. A little later they announced some secret but now they are back with an important efficiency test. TÜV has certified its electric autonomy.

For now, the power of the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is unknown...

To carry out this test, Mercedes-Benz made a pre-series unit available to the TÜV.. And the chosen route was not designed to increase its capacity, since it passed through roads open to traffic as well as through areas of unfavorable orography. The objective they wanted to achieve was the following: travel from the Mercedes-Benz Museum located in stuttgart to munich airport and vice versa without stopping to recharge the battery.

The test was carried out on October 19 and the result obtained is this. The test eSprinter covered 474 kilometers on a single charge and had enough battery left over to reach another 20 extra kilometers. This represents an average consumption per 100 kilometers of 21,9 kWh. Also, as an interesting fact to take into account, the average elevation of the roads ranged between 210 and 785 meters above sea level.

With everything, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter will be presented to us as one of the most capable. And not only that, if the Stuttgart house improves its technology, versions with greater autonomy could reach the market. But to find out if this happens, or not, we will have to wait for the second half of next year 2023. It will be then when the house of the star begins its sale and production in the centers of Charleston (USA), Düsseldorf and Ludwigsfelde.

Later, with a view to 2025, the EV platform Mercedes-Benz Vans Electric Architecture. From then on, all electric vans and industrial vehicles of the German brand will be based on it. And maybe, who knows, it's the moment when the first units of the Rivian vans arrive in Europe… Patience…
