Mobilize Duo: The replacement for the Twizy will debut at the Paris Auto Show

Duo Mobilize

Electric mobility is changing the way we see the sector and not just the brands. Customers have taken a step forward especially when it comes to considering the purchase of a vehicle, opting for ever cleaner and more ecological models. In addition, also they believe in concepts like car sharing and that is where Renault's Mobilize wants to find its commercial niche. Now, at the Paris Auto Show, they are about to renew their "range"...

Taking advantage of the fact that they "play at home" Renault Group will give a coup d'état. Two of the novelties that should attract the most attention are the Mobilize Duo and Bento (van version of the former). With one and the other, they open up more, even if possible, the possibilities of mobility for urban drivers, but don't they sound familiar to you? It should because its concept has been sold by the diamond house for a few years with some success. The Twizy has been replaced...

The Mobilize Duo will be available for individuals and companies in flexible leasing mode from the end of the year 2023…

Mobilize Duo vs. Mobilize Bento

To simplify your concept we will go to one of the press releases published by Renault. In it they explain that the Mobilize Duo is a…

«Fully electric, compact and connected ATV that seats two and fits everyone»

But to understand what the Duo is, we must remember the EZ-1 Prototype as it is its conceptual version. However, it reaches 2,43 meters long, 1,3 meters wide and 1,46 meters high being 9 and 11 cm larger than the Twizy. Like this one, it has a tubular chassis and the bodywork is not painted but uses already decorated plastic panels. In addition, to contain costs, the front and rear bumpers are identical and includes LED optics.

The interior of the Duo is also reminiscent of the Twizy as it only has two seats in tandem. The rear is accessible thanks to the fact that the front can move up to 20 cm and can accommodate adults up to 1,8 meters tall. For easy entry, doors open vertically and now include windows. To start it is not necessary keys since it can be done through the smartphone and, in addition, it includes a steering wheel with airbag.

Regarding its mechanics, more of the same regarding the Twizy. The electric drivetrain drives the rear axle and there will be two versions. The first limits its maximum speed to 45 km/h and you will not need a license, but the second does, since it reaches 80 km/h. There is no data on the battery but we know that the WLTP autonomy will be 140 km but this data could be for version 45. It is possible that in 80 it will be less, but it is still early to know.

And how is the Mobilize Bento…?

According to Renault...

«Bento, a charging version of Duo, looks the same and is designed for professional customers who need a compact all-electric vehicle for last-mile services.”

The great novelty that Bento brings is that removes rear seat to expand cargo area. For now we don't know how much the Duo can carry, but the "van" declares a total volume of 700 liters. All other aspects of design and technology are shared, including the mobile opening and boot system. Finally, indicate that it will be available for lease to companies from the end of next year 2024.
