There are no secrets anymore: the new Isuzu D-Max takes a giant leap

A few days ago we told you that the latest generation of the Isuzu D-Max was about to be officially presented. To announce this good news, the Japanese firm released a brief video teaser in which they showed some features of their renewed bodywork and inside. However, it has not been until now that they have released all the available material, showing that they have worked very hard to evolve their best-selling model.

This evolution has taken neither more nor less than eight years to arrive, as Isuzu has experienced a turbulent time. Now, she walks alone, without restrictions imposed by third party builders or inappropriate partners, as was the case with General Motors. Even so, the platform on which the new Isuzu D-Max sits has been designed from scratch together with another Japanese manufacturer, Mazda.

The Isuzu D-Max radically changes its exterior and interior

If we look at the aesthetics of the D-Max, we can see big changes. Isuzu wants to increase its sales and for this, it needs to bring it closer to a wider audience. For this reason, he wears a less aggressive print, although without losing its essence. Now she enjoys a more elegant front, presided over by newly designed optical groups with the integrated daytime running light. The grill, which can be chrome or black, is also new.

Where fewer changes are perceived is in the side view and behind. First of all, enjoy some wheel arches generously sized with plastic protections. The rims are also new, as are the roof bars that certain versions include. The rear, for its part, has completely new pilots and the well-known door that gives access to the cargo tub. Where there is a big step forward is inside. The evolution is so evident, even by quality of materials and design, which is at the height of better known rivals. Thus, a complete infotainment system with 9 inch touch screen and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. What's more, in terms of active driving aids, it has been updated. Now, you can include items like cross traffic alert or notice of objects in the blind spot.

Does it improve its mechanical offer?

There are two versions available, both diesel cycle. First, there is a block with 3.0 liters of displacement derived from the well-known 4JJ1 that delivers 190 hp power and 445 Nm of maximum torque. Later, a new 1.9-liter RZ4E will be added, although in this case, they have not announced its power. The available streams There are two, one manual and one automatic, both with six relationships. Finally, the power reaches the ground through the rear axle or all four wheels.

For now, the arrival on the market of the new Isuzu D-Max is reserved for Thailand. Later, it will expand to the rest of the places in Asia. His arrival in the United States is still up in the air, as is the case of Europe.
