Renault Group is experiencing a convulsive moment. It is one of the great car manufacturers in all of Europe but even so, the crisis has hit it very hard. The hardest drink has come from Russia for giving in to the blackmail of the Putin government to have to part with AvtoVAZ. But with its partners in the Alliance, things are not flowing as it should and we know this because a few days ago they announced that they are in new talks.
What will happen to the future of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance we still do not know, but they have not stopped and are taking steps forward without them. The proof of this is in the official announcement they have made Renault and Geeley Hours ago. boards will create a joint venture to create and manufacture a new generation of low-emission ICE, hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engines. But there are still many more surprises.
Renault Group, from now on, will divide its activity around five different "businesses"...
If you do a little memory you will remember that A few months ago we told you about Renault Group's Renaulution strategy. Well, the leadership of the French group has decided to go to the total "Revolution" to divide its internal structure into five independent businesses which, in turn, will be nourished by a technology bank common to all but with independent management. According to the press release, these businesses are as follows:
- Ampere- The first pure EV and software player born from an OEM outage.
- Alpine: A high-end, zero-emission global brand with racing pedigree. A unique asset-light model combined with proprietary technologies.
- mobilize: Built around a leading financial services company to enter the market for new data, energy and mobility-based services.
- The Future Is NEUTRAL: the first 360° circular economy company in the automotive industry from closed-loop in materials to battery recycling.
- Power- Groupe Renault's traditional core business will continue to develop innovative low-emission ICE and hybrid vehicles under the Renault, Dacia and Renault LCV brands, each with its own dedicated organization and governance.
The Ampere division is the most "innovative" because until now we did not know that it was going to exist. And don't let its name mislead you, as it is neither more nor less than the formalization of the Renaulution strategy to develop and manufacture electric vehicles. In addition, we already know what their first models will be and when they will arrive. Before the year 2030, the 5 Electric, 4 Electric, Megane E-tech Electric, Scénic Electric and two other unpublished.
Finally, we cannot ignore that Renault Group has allied itself with Qualcomm Technologies and with Google for two new business areas. First, to develop high-performance computing platforms based on Snapdragon Digital Chassis, and second, to create a platform with Android software. Finally, Alpine will transform into a high-performance electric brand and Dacia will improve its profitability...
Hopefully this revolution will get Renault Group out of the doldrums...
