The Dacia Spring hit the market in 2021. Just a year later it received a cosmetic update to incorporate the new brand language. Now, in 2023, just added two important new features. Actually, both news are related. Dacia has incorporated the new Extreme finish in its four models, that is, in the Sandero, Jogger, Duster and Spring. In the case of the small electric, it is associated with this new mechanical variant with greater benefits.
We speak of a new engine with 65 hp, which significantly improves performance over the 45 it was originally released with. It is not that the 65 replaces the 45, but that it expands the range, since both are marketed. It goes without saying that in both cases he receives the DGT environmental mark Zero emissions.
To put only some data, this more powerful motorization It accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in 3,9 seconds and from 0 to 100 in 13,7. Ok, they are still not surprising data, but we must never forget what a light, urban and simple car concept it is. And it is that it is still an economical vehicle to make urban journeys from day to day at the lowest possible cost; as long as you have the possibility to charge it at home.
Aesthetic additions to the new Spring Extreme
But let's start talking about design of this new Extreme finish. En el Exterior we see several copper brown details, as in a molding next to the headlights, in the mirror housings, in the wheels, in the roof rack and in the DACIA inscription on the tailgate. And it is that these materials They will be able to withstand the passage of time well.. I must also mention that the adjustments are more than correct.
It is important to say that, despite the urban car concept, there is no lack of a central touch screen for the multimedia system, which although it does not have a remarkable resolution, comes with rear camera, navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to link our mobile, quite a hoot. By the way, this screen is 7 inches.
Although it measures only 3,7 meters, four adults fit perfectly
Regarding space, two adults of normal size can circulate in the Dacia Spring without problems in the front seats. The worst dimension is the width, so we feel somewhat close to our companion, but after all, it is normal in a car of this size. The holes to leave objects are correct, both in the doors and in the center console.
Although it is only 3,73 meters in length, the rear seats are not bad at all. Also here behind can be two adults of average height, having just enough space for the legs. With my 1,76 height and the front seat adjusted to my driving position I'm on the verge of rubbing my knees, which is good news.
I have more room for the head with respect to the ceiling, although it is true that the arch area of the door went a little inwards. In any case, since three occupants will never go behind here (it is approved for 4 seats), it will not be a problem. More than enough for daily trips to the city.
A very large trunk, almost of a superior segment
The trunk of the Spring cubic 270 liters, which is certainly a really good fact taking into account the length of the body. It is a capacity that will allow us, for example, to do the shopping for a week for a whole family without problem. In fact, for comparison, it is the same volume as a current Toyota Yaris, which belongs to a higher segment.

As I said, the Spring has a clear orientation for urban use. It is true that with this 65 CV version it now has a little more solvency. But anyway, the city is his terrain.
With the access engine, the 45 CV one, I recommend that you avoid going out to the periphery of cities. Its response is very limited and it is difficult for it to gain speed from 50 or 60 km/h. With this, with the most powerful, we can do it, but it is better to leave it only for specific occasions. Its speed is still limited to 130 km/h.
Walking around with him is a delight. This Dacia Spring Extreme 65 feels very agile, it maneuvers very well and you can park it practically anywhere. We are talking about just 3,73 meters and less than 1.000 kilos in weight, the latter being especially remarkable.
Regarding the battery, it is 27,4 kWh. And compared to the 45 hp variant we only lose 10 kilometers of autonomy. According to the WLTP approved cycle, there are 220 km combined use, which will become around 300 km if we only drive through the city. Therefore, and logically depending on the use, the vast majority of customers could recharge it once a week.
