Hyundai is one of the brands that has evolved the most in recent years. Not only as a generalist firm but also with the electrification of its range. For this last project they have made such an important investment that it surprised everyone. The result has materialized in the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with 800 volt technology. In fact, it is already used by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or its cousin Kia EV6…

But they are not the only ones who benefit from the benefits of this base. The Hyundai ioniq 6 is the latest model that is based on it and that, moreover, announces record autonomy figures. Its official debut aroused much criticism and gossip, especially because it sports a "weird" design to say the least. But this shape has a reason for being and the WLPT approval standard has certified it as such since it confirms 614 kilometers of autonomy but real?

To understand that the Hyundai Ioniq 6 reaches 614 kilometers of autonomy, you have to know some basic data. The first has to do with his drag coefficient So it reaches a Cx of 0,21. Secondly, we must deal with the issue of the versions that are in its range. There are two: one with 2WD propulsion and the other with AWD with all-wheel drive. Then there are the batteries, which for the 2WD they can be 53 kWh or 77,4 kWh and for the AWD of kWh.

Now, if we combine these "ingredients" we can understand how the Ioniq 6 validates this WLTP data. It takes the 77,4 kWh Long Range battery and 2WD drive version with 18 inch alloy wheels and this is the result. 614 kilometers that, depending on driving, traffic situation or temperature will be more or less. In case of opting for the AWD version with the same type of tire, the figure drops to 583 km.

If you remember, you will remember that in its day we told you that the Ioniq 6 would offer 610 kilometers of autonomy. But that data was not yet official and now they publish that they have not only achieved it, but have improved it. The problem is that the access version Standard 53 kWh, which will have more demand for its price, offers 429 kilometers of autonomy. All in all, it is the version with the lowest average consumption approved with 13,9 kWh per 100 kilometers.

We will have to wait for the Ioniq 6 to hit the market to find out how it is received. According to Hyundai, its planned launch, in select European markets, later this year. We still do not know if Spain will be among the chosen ones or if, on the contrary, we will have to wait a little longer to get hold of him.
