New times demand new models. The era of electrification is already a reality. In the future, all new cars will use electric motors to move. That fledgling industry starts today thanks to new models like the Nissan ariya. The Japanese want to repeat the formula that led them to success with models like the Nissan Qashqai and Nissan Juke; arriving first is the best.
Although the Ariya is not the first 100% electric model of the house, that honor will always correspond to the Nissan LEAF, this is the first fully battery-powered SUV. To this new structure must be added a new design philosophy that will be added over time to the new electrical units of the house. Due to its size, we can place the Ariya in the C-SUV segment, at the top of the list and separated by just 17 centimeters from the Qashqai. Outwardly it reaches 4,59 meters long, 1,85 meters wide and 1,66 meters high. To these dimensions must be added a wheelbase of 2,77 meters.
This battle allows it to offer a capacity for a maximum of five passengers, three of them installed in a rear row with a flat floor and generous dimensions for the legs, although somewhat more limited in width. Regarding load capacity, the Nissan Ariya offers a trunk with 415 liters of minimum volume, 468 liters for units with a single engine, which leave the entire area of the double bottom of the trunk free.
Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Nissan Ariya
When developing the Ariya, Nissan engineers were very clear that it was a 100% electric project. The SUV only uses electrified systems to move, in the total absence of combustion engines. The mechanical range revolves around the size of the batteries, 63 and 87 kWh of net capacity, and the number of engines offered by each unit. The most performant opt for a dual motor under the name e-4ORCE.
The access model offers the smallest battery with a single front motor. Generate 218 horsepower, 300 Nm of torque and an electric range of 360 kilometers. It is followed by the 87 kWh capacity battery unit with unitary motor. It develops 242 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. It is the unit with the greatest range of autonomy, 500 kilometers approved in the WLTP cycle.
From there we enter the versions with two engines, one front and one rear. At a first level is the Ariya e-4ORCE with a 63 kWh battery, 279 horsepower and 340 kilometers of autonomy. It is followed by the e-4ORCE model with an 87 kWh battery that gives off 306 horsepower and achieves an approved range of 460 kilometers. The most powerful of the family is the Ariya e-4ORCE Performance. Reaches 394 horsepower and a range of 400 km thanks to the 87 kWh net capacity battery.
