Most think of Lexus as a luxury manufacturer of efficient hybrid sedans and SUVs. However, history also tells us that the Japanese are capable of creating some of the most exceptional supercars to ever cross the roads of the world, in our memory there will always be the great Lexus LFA, the natural predecessor of the Lexus lc.

The LC is the largest luxury coupe sold by the premium firm of Toyota, just above his little brother the Lexus RC. Unveiled to the public at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), began production in the first quarter of 2017. On an aesthetic level, the LC drinks from the LF-LC concept presented in 2012, although conveniently updated by the Toyota Calty Design Research in California.

Since then the Japanese GT has not undergone any modification or renovation, but the addition of new bodies. In mid-2019 Lexus introduces the LC Cabrio in the range. One of the most beautiful convertible sports cars in the world. The main difference with its brother lies in the absence of a rigid roof and in the panel that protects the canvas hood.

Technical characteristics of the Lexus LC

Lexus is a specialist in sedans and SUVs, so when they had to develop a sports model like the Lexus LC, they had to plan everything from scratch. That includes a platform that derives from Toyota's new scalar architecture, the platform TNGA GA-L, very similar to the one used by other models of the house such as the Lexus GS.

The LC's proportions are far from discreet, as confirmed by its exterior measurements: 4,76 meters long, 1,92 meters wide and 1,35 meters high, the same for the Cabrio. To these dimensions must be added a wheelbase of 2,87 meters. That leaves us with a reduced cabin for four occupants in the coupe and only two in the convertible.

Although the capacity of the Lexus LC Coupé is suitable for four passengers, the two later ones will suffer the consequences of a delayed cabin and a coupé line. To that we must add a trunk of small proportions, 172 liters for the hardtop unit and 197 for the Cabrio. It should be remembered that the trunk is rear since the engine is located in a central-front position.

Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Lexus LC

The mechanical range of the Lexus LC is made up of two engines. The first is atmospherically aspirated gasoline-hybrid, Atkinson cycle and V6 configuration; the second option is a atmospheric cut petrol block in V8 configuration. With the first option, the LC reaches a combined power of 360 hp and an approved average consumption per 100 kilometers of only 8.1 litres.

With the second mechanic the power of the Lexus LC amounts to 477 horses. With it, the benefits of the Japanese coupe are authentic sports, as it reaches 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4,7 seconds and a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour. With this mechanism the approved average consumption is 12,1 liters per 100 kilometers. With the change of range, the coupé exclusively mounts the hybrid engine, while the Cabrio keeps the V8 for itself.

The power of both mechanics reaches the ground through the rear axle. This is managed through two automatic gearboxes. The hybrid-gasoline mechanics has a continuous variator type called e-CVT. The second engine, the V8, is linked to a modern and sophisticated automatic gearbox with 10 ratios of torque converter type.

Equipment of the Lexus LC

If there is something that cannot be denied to Lexus, it is the quality of its manufacture. The LC is the flagship of the house, along with the Lexus LS. It must demonstrate the maximum capabilities of the Japanese house. And that means that both materials used as the manufacturing process are of the highest quality. An attention to detail reaches its zenith with the Regatta version.

The interior, although small, transmits a lot of comfort to its occupants. The range is made up of several trim lines: Luxury, Sport+ and Bespoke (exclusive to the Cabrio). The general appearance of the Lexus LC does not change from one finish to another, except for the wheel sets, which feature specific designs for each step. Sizes range from 20 to 21 inches.

The equipment packages are very closed, and it is only possible to play with certain details such as the exterior paint or the color of the upholstery, all in leather yes. At the equipment level, the Lexus LC sports many elements, it is worth noting the presence of: keyless access and starting, digital instrument panel, connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, Full LED headlights, Mark Levison sound system, and a multimedia system with a 10,3-inch screen. To this must be added an outstanding safety team and driving aids.

The Lexus LC of Km 0 and second hand

The Lexus LC falls into the category of European GT sports cars. An exclusive market with a low commercial circulation. Sales throughout its history have been discreet, and that delves into a second-hand market with few units available. In all of them it is worth highlighting a low depreciation percentage, thanks to its timeless design and its reputation for durability.

Best of all, the units for sale all have low mileage. The minimum price is in amounts close to 80.000 euros for models of the first commercial year, 2017. As such, the Km 0 channel is completely devoid of units, dealers do not accumulate stock, but once again we return to the low use of units for sale.

Lexus LC rivals

It is difficult to catalog the Lexus LC. Its mid-power hybrid concept doesn't match its size. Its most direct rivals usually bet on more power. If we look at what his toughest opponents could be, we could mention the BMW Serie 8, Mercedes S-Class Coupe, And Aston Martin DB11. All of them are superior in power, but all of them have hardtop and cabriolet bodies. We already say that as such, in the European market the LC is difficult to pigeonhole.

Lexus LC prices

The LC is possibly the most exclusive Lexus model. Its low production is largely caused by its high sales value. In the cheapest of cases the Lexus LC has a starting price of 130.500 euros for the coupe with Luxury trim, no sales or discounts. The most expensive version of all is the LC 500 Cabrio, whose minimum price stands at 159.000 euros. A cost that is mainly justified by the design and quality of its interior.
