Toyota Spain has communicated the delivery of vehicles for the Municipal Police of Madrid. This is a fleet of nothing less than 50 units of the Toyota Prius+, that the agents will use for patrolling and security tasks in the streets of the Spanish capital. In addition, being a hybrid vehicle, in theory, the environmental impact of its use will be lower compared to a diesel or gasoline model.
As usual in this type of police vehicles, all units have been prepared and adapted to the needs of the agents of the Local Police of Madrid. Therefore, they receive the specific lettering with the colors yellow and blue and the coat of arms of the Madrid City Council on the hood and on the rear doors, the entire light kit and, of course, the detainee kit with the separating screen and specific compartments in the trunk for all the material.
The automobile brand tells us in its press release that the Madrid City Council has opted for the Toyota Prius+ for its efficiency and environmental sustainability. In fact, due to its hybrid status, this model receives the ECO Label from the DGT. In addition, as most Police routes are urban, the model's self-recharging hybrid system will be well used.
The Madrid Local Police is not the only one that uses the Toyota Prius+ as a patrol car. For example, the Guàrdia Urbana of Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat also have Prius+ in their fleet; car that can also be seen in some localities as a vehicle of the National Police. On the other hand, the Ertzaintza uses some units of the Toyota Land Cruiser, one of the most valued all-terrain vehicles on the market.
El Toyota Prius +, according to the brand's configurator, has a starting price of 29.300 euros for individuals and without applying discounts. Obviously, the price for these 50 units for the Madrid Police will have been lower for acquiring so many units, although, yes, the vinyls, lights, security screen and all the accessories are also an extra outlay.
