Both make up the range of sedans-crossover of the German house, capturing all the qualities of the classic segment, with some peculiarities for the SUV.

Technical characteristics of the Audi A6 Allroad

For the A6 Allroad to become what it is borrows the base on which the entire range of the E-segment saloon sits. It is the same platform that we can see in other models of the Volkswagen Group, such as the Volkswagen Passat and the Skoda Superb, models that incidentally become rivals by also having a raised body.

To this structure are added solutions that the rest of the models in the range can only have as optional. The main element is a variable height air suspension which is especially practical for off-road riding. In this way you can extend the height dimension with the push of a button.

The measures of the Audi A6 Allroad are not at all discreet. 4,95 meters long, 1,9 meters wide and 1,50 meters high. To these measures must be added a wheelbase of 2,92 meters. What supposes an excellent habitability for five passengers. In terms of cargo volumes, the minimum figure is 595 liters, and the maximum 1.680 litres, obtained by folding down the second row of seats in a 60:40 ratio.

Mechanics and gearboxes of the Audi A6 Allroad

The Allroad variant of the A6 has always mounted the most powerful engines in the family. In this case, in its fourth generation, the idea is the same. In fact the range of the A6 Allroad is the shortest in the range except for the Audi RS Avant 6. The offer includes three diesel options and one gasoline. All units include a Mild-Hybrid scheme that allows consumption to be reduced and certified as an ECO car according to the DGT.

The range of diesel blocks presents powers ranging from 204 horsepower of the 40 TDI, to 286 horsepower of the 55 TDI. This last one is the most powerful option of the family since the only gasoline, the 55 TFSI stays at 340 horses. The intermediate solution is the 50 TDI that, using the same block, remains at 286 horsepower.

All units of the A6 Allroad come standard with an automatic gearbox. S-Tronic for gasoline and Tiptronic for diesel. To that we must add the mentioned pneumatic suspension, and a scheme of Quattro all-wheel drive typical Audi. With all these weapons, the A6 Allroad becomes a true off-road SUV. Where you will be limited by the tires you fit.

Equipment of the Audi A6 Allroad

We are talking about Audi, about a house that is not particularly cheap. But that also means that we have extensive equipment at our disposal. In that aspect the Allroad is exactly the same as any of its brothers, it does not present more or less technological load than the rest of the family. And it's still a lot of equipment.

The only difference is that the A6 Allroad cannot have several aesthetic packages as it happens in a normal Avant. In this case aesthetics is always the same. A design that is very marked by the abundant presence of black plastics in the wheel arches and underbody in order to create that feeling of the countryside.

Although the basic technological load is not very remarkable, if we use the optional ones we see how we can have almost everything imaginable. Four-zone climate control, Matrix LED headlights, Head-Up Display, sunroof, heated seats, digital instrument panel, multimedia and control system with three touch panels, 360-degree camera, and the latest and most gifted security equipment and driving assistants.

The Audi A6 Allroad of Km 0 and Second Hand

Although the A6 Allroad is not the most commercial model in the range, nor in the market in fact, that does not mean that it does not have a good acceptance in the second-hand and occasion markets. The fact that it has extensive experience under its belt also helps, its four generations make that offer greater.

Depreciation is low in most cases. However, the longest units and with the greatest number of kilometers have a low starting price. The most current units date from 2016 and their prices are set at around 30 or 40.000 euros. The Km 0 market is non-existent since, being a low-production model, dealers do not accumulate stock.

Rivals of the Audi A6 Allroad

That it is not a very large market does not mean that there are no rivals for the Audi A6 Allroad. In fact, it has two very direct opponents. On one hand the Mercedes E-Class in its All Terrain format. The other is the Volvo V90 with Cross Country body. All three have a premium concept sheathed in a familiar and country-looking body. Other rival models, outside the premium segment, are the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack and Skoda Superb in its Combi Scout version.
