El Ferrari FF It is a model launched in 2012, which was a revolution in the Italian brand as it was the first all-wheel drive Ferrari. Its name, FF, is an acronym for Ferrari Four, alluding to its all-wheel drive and its four useful seats. This model is undoubtedly the most practical in the range as it offers a 450-litre boot capacity. By concept it can be considered that it is the natural replacement of the 612 Scaglietti.

Under the prominent hood of its silhouette is the same 6.3 V12 engine as the Ferrari F12berlinetta, although in this case it delivers 660CV, compared to the 740 of the coupé model. The gearbox is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. This set allows the FF to accelerate from 0 to 100 in 3,7 seconds, with a top speed of 335 kilometers per hour. This model is equipped with Launch Control as standard, to make the most of acceleration when starting from a standstill. Homologates an average consumption of 15,4 liters per 100 kilometers, despite having technologies such as Stop & Start to minimize this figure.

As for the all-wheel drive of this model, it is worth noting its peculiar functioning. When the rear axle detects loss of grip, it is when torque is sent to the front axle, as happens in many cars. However, the Ferrari FF gearbox is located in the transaxle position, that is, on the rear axle, while a transfer case is added to the front axle, driven by the crankshaft by means of hydraulic clutches, which will be in charge of moving the front wheels. Despite the complexity that this system presupposes, the firm assures that 50% of the weight has been saved in the traction system.
