Mitsubishi is part of a major business conglomerate led by Renault y Nissan. The three companies share information and components in their developments. Thanks to that, the latest generation ASX is based on the group's CMF-B platform. It is the same structure used by models from other companies such as the Nissan Juke or Renault Captur, which are considered the twin brothers of the ASX.

At the moment Mitsubishi has not given many technical samples of what the ASX will be like in its measurements, but we do know that it will remain faithful to the B-SUV segment. That means that externally they will have similar measurements to the previous model, around 4,3 meters long with a wheelbase greater than 2,7 meters. In terms of loading capacity, the multiple mechanical options will allow us to offer trunks of different sizes, all of which have an average of 422 liters of minimum cubic capacity. That figure is reduced to 305 liters in the case of the hybrid model.

The new CMF-B platform allows Mitsubishi to employ a wide range of mechanical solutions. for this generation the ASX gets rid of diesel engines, taking advantage only of electrified or thermal gasoline engines. In 2024 the plug-in hybrid unit will also disappear, leaving four definitive variants registered: a gasoline, two micro-hybrids with the ECO label and a conventional hybrid, also with the ECO label.

The range, by power, starts with the 100T. A three-cylinder turbocharged block that develops a 90 horse power output and that it is associated with a six-speed manual transmission. Behind him stands the 130T MHEV with four turbocharged cylinders offers 140 horses, six-speed manual transmission and the advantageous ECO label from the DGT. The option with automatic transmission, the ASX 130T MHEV offers 160 horses managed by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The most electrified model of all is the ASX 160 HEV with hybrid scheme. It offers a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors, one of them acting as a gearbox, which are associated with a 1,3 kWh capacity battery. Enjoy an approximate electric range of 5 kilometers, while the entire set develops a maximum performance of 145 horsepower. All power goes to the front axle.

Equipment of the Mitsubishi ASX

The similarities with the Captur are not limited exclusively to the design and the mechanical part. Mitsubishi's proposal also includes replicating the interior of the French SUV. The good thing about little differentiation is that the ASX employs materials above the category standard, as well as state-of-the-art technology that without the association with Renault it would not have access.

As is customary in the Japanese house, the equipment is segmented into different finishes. Strata that add or subtract equipment to make the product more expensive or cheaper. In all of them, the wide number of systems available stands out. In the Spanish market they are sold four options available: Spirit, Motion, Kaiteki and Kaiteki +. The main differences lie in the equipment and design details.

Technologically speaking, the Mitsubishi ASX offers a wide collection of systems, more than usual in the category. The list highlights elements such as: LED headlights, keyless entry and start, digital instrumentation, multimedia system with vertical touch panel up to 10,4 inches, connectivity for mobile devices, automatic climate control, parking cameras and a wide collection of assistants with level 2 autonomous driving.
