Aston Martin has decided to go to Shanghai Auto Show with an electric toy. China It is one of its main markets and, knowing the great reception that this type of vehicle has, it wants to please its customers. For this reason, despite the fact that we already knew some of its technical details, have decided to officially present the new Aston Martin Rapide E..
The way to create it has been simple: they have taken the Quick "normal" and they have removed the gasoline block 6.0 liter V12. In its place they have put an 800-volt battery pack wrapped in Kevlar and carbon fiber. It has more than 5.600 lithium ion cells and powers two electric motors. These have been placed in the rear area of the car and send their 610 CV and 1.000 Nm of maximum torque to the rear wheels.
The Rapide E modifies aerodynamics and adds a digital cockpit
However, although to develop the Aston Martin Rapide E. the brand's engineers have not broken their heads, they have made changes. On the outside, the underbody has been redesigned to improve the air flow. The rear diffuser changes its lines to improve efficiency. The front air intake it is simpler, as the cooling needs have decreased. These changes are completed by newly designed alloy wheels.
If we go to interior, the Rapide E debuts a digital instrument cluster configurable. Thanks to a 10-inch screen, it shows real-time information related to the powertrain. The rest of the dashboard elements remain, although the quality of the materials has been reviewed. All in all, and despite the changes introduced, he cannot deny that he is getting on in years against his rivals.
Still, Aston Martin has decided to bet on him RapidE as its first one hundred percent electric model. With it, they will be able to test their battery technology, without having to make a large financial investment in its development. In any case, the production of the Aston Martin Rapide E will be limited to 155 units. Its official price has not been revealed, but if you wanted one, in the official website of the brand you can already configure it.
