Audi RS3 Sportback, 400 CV that will arrive in August

Audi Sportback RS3

In a world where electric motors and hybrid systems will soon be the usual way of powering our vehicles, there is still room to talk about irrational cars and illogical powers for certain dimensions. In this case we refer to the Audi Sportback RS3, which has just been updated offering greater dynamic performance and some other changes in its exterior image and equipment.

The main change that the renewed Audi RS3 Sportback incorporates is, as we already saw in the Audi RS3 Sedan, the power increase of the 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder. It has gone from offering us 367 hp, which were not bad either, to yielding exactly 400 CV, that is, it has gained 33 hp. The maximum torque will be 480 Nm, with a wide working range, from 1.700 to 5.850 rpm. This, together with the quattro drive, allows you to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 4,1 seconds.

400 hp and a torque of 480 Nm are not easy to transmit to the asphalt. In a single-axle drive car it would be a guarantee of loss of traction, especially when exiting slow corners. The four-wheel drive takes care to avoid it. Audi says that the sportier the driving, the more torque it sends to the rear axle, although it will also do so if we select the sporty driving mode in the Audi drive select.

On the other hand, the Audi RS3 Sportback significantly improves stability compared to an Audi A3 “normal”, although it will also be true that the comfort will not be comparable. Compared to an A3, the RS3 Sportback has a more dynamic suspension setup, lowers the ride height by 25mm and widens the front track by 20mm. It comes as standard inch wheels 19 with custom low profile tires 235/35, in addition to 310 mm brake discs, which may be carbon-ceramic on the front axle.

As for the aesthetic changes, they follow the same line as the entire Audi A3 range, although with the usual anabolic steroids of the RS models. In this way we find headlights in LED lighting (in option they can be matrix LED), the Singleframe grill with chrome surround and gloss black honeycomb grille, aggressive air intakes in the corners, chrome mirror caps and the aforementioned 19-inch wheels as standard. The window frames are chromed, as are the roof bars. Behind the bumper will stand out with the marking low black diffuser and the two oval exhaust outlets.

If we go to cabin, we will meet a high quality in terms of upholstery and finishyes In addition, the instrument panel will already be the famous Virtual cockpit premiered in the Audi TT and that was later extended by Audi and Volkswagen. For the rest, we will logically find a sports steering wheel with leather and Alcantara plus RS lettering, aluminum pedals, sports seats, etc; although, to tell the truth, the interiors of the Audi RS should be somewhat more different from the rest of the range.

Although there are no prices for the Spanish market, the RS3 Sporback starts at 54.600 euros in Germany, while its sedan brother starts at 55.900 euros, 1.300 euros more.
