Bollinger B1 and B2 electric SUVs are coming to Europe

The American brand Bollinger has announced that its B1 and B2 electric SUVs will be available at European market. His two creations with a retro look, but full of technology are priced in the US at $125.000. That is, 113.000 euros at the current exchange rate.

Unlike other high-end electric car brands, Bollinger isn't getting a rush of bookings. The Tesla Model 3 reached 400.000 when its launch was confirmed and the Volkswagen ID.3 received 10.000 pre-orders in the first 24 hours.

The reason is perhaps that the cars that Bollinger offers are designed for a more restricted use, mainly for off road. To date, it has received orders equivalent to more than half of its annual production capacity. Which, according to its sales director Chet Parsons, is between 1.000 and 1.500 units.

Production of the Bollinger B1 and B2 will start at the end of next year in order to meet the deliveries to customers in 2021. The company is also working on the approval of your products within the European Union, so that some units reach said market, during the first phase of deliveries.

The B1 y B2 They are a SUV and a pickup respectively, and both receive US Class 3 truck certification. That is, it falls into the same category as the F or the imminent Tesla Cybertruck. A kind of vehicle of great weight and size that is rare to see in Spain.

The capabilities of Bollinger's all-rounders

Both SUVs move thanks to a large 120 kWh battery and they have an electric motor on each axle to get four-wheel drive. The combined power that they are capable of developing is 622 hp, with a huge torque of 906 Nm. Despite their heavy weight, with these specifications they can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,5 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h. What is not yet known is its autonomy, although presumably it will also be penalized by its weight and aerodynamics.

The transmission is designed as in pure SUVs, rather than the one found in SUVs or crossovers derived from conventional cars. Therefore, it has a two-speed automatic gearbox with reducer and has electronic locking differentials front and rear, to adapt to any difficult situation. Having two motors, it does not require a center differential.

Outstanding off road capabilities

The creators of these vehicles have been concerned that the weight distribution between axles is 50/50. In addition to having a variable ground clearance ranging from 25 cm to 50 cm, a suspension travel 25,4 cm and 298 mm ventilated disc brakes. Features that make them cars with great capabilities off road.

Regarding the carrying capacities of the Bollinger B1 and B2, their Useful load is 2.359 kg and its towing capacity is 3.402 kg. Among the rivals of these cars are the Rivian R1T and Rivian R1S electric or the aforementioned Tesla Cybertruck.
