The A-segment is not the most popular of the European markets, but in an increasingly populated world, it will gain in importance over time. In the not too distant future, models like the Skoda Citigoe IV will dominate the urban landscape for two reasons. The first is its small size, the second is its 100% electric concept.

Manufactured in the Slovakian plant of Skoda in Bratislava, it began to be marketed in 2012 in our country and in 2017 it received a restyling. Finally, in 2019, the Czech brand decided to give it a radical change, getting rid of the combustion versions, moving only to electric mobility.

Thanks to this change, the Citigoe iV can move around the city without ties and without restriction problems to low-emission spaces or on protocol days. The DGT certifies it with the ZERO label, which not only entails cleaner mobility, but also certain benefits such as tax advantages and free urban parking.

Technical characteristics of the Skoda Citigoe iV

The Skoda Citigoe iV has mutated to a 100% electric car taking advantage of the architecture it already had. The NSF platform (New Small Family) it is the same used by his twin brothers from the Volkswagen Group. On one hand the SEAT Mii Electric, and on the other hand Volkswagen e-up! All three have followed the same path, and that is why all three have the same characteristics.

As the platform does not change, the Citigoe iV shows the same external dimensions of the combustion versions. 3,6 meters long, 1,64 meters wide and 1,48 meters high. In its cabin up to a maximum of four passengers can travel in relative comfort thanks to the 2,42-meter wheelbase.

Thanks to the fact that the batteries are installed under the floor of the car, the trunk is clear of components that allow the load capacity to be expanded. 251 liters is the minimum capacity. Data that can be increased to 923 liters if we lower the second row of seats in a 60:40 ratio.

Mechanical range of the Skoda Citigoe iV

The Czechs have not complicated life too much when it comes to forming the mechanical range of the Citigoe iV. The initials iV correspond to the most efficient range of the house. The same acronyms can be seen in other models such as the Skoda Superb iV. The secret lies in the battery. A water-cooled lithium-ion cell with 36,8 kWh capacity.

A synchronous electric motor is coupled to the battery that releases 61 kW of power, or what is the same; 83 of the meager horsepower. To that power we must add a maximum electric torque of 210 Nm available from a standstill. With all this, the benefits of the Skoda Citigoe iV are discreet. From 0 to 100 km/h in 12,5 seconds and a maximum speed of 130 km/h.

The electrical set homologates a maximum autonomy of 260 km in the WLTP cycle. For the critical moment of recharging, Skoda claims that it can go from 10 to 80% battery capacity in just 60 minutes if we connect it to a socket of up to 40 kW. If we do it in a domestic socket it will take 12 and a half hours, and if we do it in a 7,2 kW Wallbox it will take approximately four hours.

To move around the city many luxuries are not necessary. With this premise Skoda has prepared a very basic but balanced equipment for the smallest of its models. The Citigoe iV has a unique line of equipment called Citigoe iV Style. It refers to the highest finish, and thanks to it we have very interesting elements.

To that we can add details that will make life on board much more comfortablesuch as heated front seats, digital radio, heated windscreen, cruise control, or fog lights.
