Byton Concept SUV: The new generation of electric vehicles is presented at CES

Byton Concept SUV

As we already advanced a few days ago, Byton, a new Chinese company headed by Carsten Breitfel, former boss within the BMW electric vehicle company –BMW i-, presented yesterday at the CES in Las Vegas what is his first car, a completely electric and modern SUV, both on the outside and on the inside.

The Byton Concept SUV will be available in the American market as of 2019 with a hefty price tag of $45.000. Its lines, which are slightly reminiscent of those of Jaguar Land Rover, make up a modern, clean and stylized design, perfectly combining ribs and edges.

The most remarkable part of its design is, without a doubt, its front grille, which hides some headlights with futuristic shapes, something never seen in a vehicle. Something new is also its facial recognition, which, thanks to cameras located on the B-pillar of the Byton Concept, will allow the driver to be recognized to use his vehicle.

Its dimensions are 4,85 meters long, 1,94 meters wide and 1,65 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2,95 meters. According to Byton, the new SUV is a rolling salon. To define it this way, they have added another new feature, and that is that the front seats will be able to rotate a maximum of 12º, something that many brands have been speculating for a long time and that Byton has shown for the first time.

As for the engines, there will be two available. The first incorporates a single 270-horsepower electric motor located on the front axle, providing 400 Nm of torque. The second mounts two motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear, which combined, develop 470 horsepower and 710 Nm of torque.

According to Byton, his new SUV will be capable of traveling 400 kilometers on a single charge. There will be an optional improvement of the batteries to provide the Chinese SUV with 520 kilometers of autonomy, 120 extra compared to the standard version. You can recharge 240 kilometers in just 20 minutes of charging.
