Since General Motors ceased its activity in Europe and left the mainland many things have happened. They are no longer on the podium of car manufacturers in the world but it is also true that they do not burn money hand over fist either. Hence, the plan that Mary Barra devised seems more and more successful: continue in the regions where they obtained the most sales and profits. And Latin America, despite everything, is one of the countries that continues to give them the most revenue...
So, once Opel and Vauxhall are no longer under their protection, they have had to rethink their entire range for this area. The result of this renovation has been that almost all Chevrolet models are slightly better. Hence, they are announcing with great fanfare each of the novelties that they are presenting to customers in the area. The last one is the Chevrolet Montana, a small pick up that you might like to see around here...
The third generation of the Chevrolet Montana will no longer derive from any Opel model...
In case you did not know, the first two iterations of the Chevrolet Montana were a derivative of an Opel. The chosen model was the Corsa that General Motors marketed in Mexico, Brazil or South Africa. For which they retouched the design of the body from the pillar "B" and included a cargo box. The result: well complicated to look at since it didn't hit "or with glue" but very practical and versatile, since it allowed load on it up to 750 kilos.
However, for the third declension they have chosen to create a totally new design. At least that is what they have announced and it seems to be intuited in the teaser and video teaser that they have published. And not only that, because in the official press release released they give the following explanation...
"The new Montana will surprise the market with several innovations, starting with an intelligent design. The cabin makes better use of the internal space to offer more comfort to the occupants, while the bucket will debut technologies that provide even greater versatility"
As expected, to reduce development and production costs, the new Montana is part of the Chevrolet model family. Specific, shares an approach with the Onix, Onix Plus and Tracker that they sell in the different countries of Latin America. In addition, they are all manufactured in the technical center that the American group has in São Caetano do Sul (SP – Brazil), which they are now updating to accommodate the new Montana pick-up.
However, if the plans go according to plan the debut of the new Chevrolet pick up will take place shortly. As they explain, it will be available in 2023, so it should not take long to publish new graphic and technical material. We will be very attentive...
