Since Cupra became independent from Seat, there have been many rumors and information that have spread about its approach as a brand. From the first moment it was declared as a car company sporty, exclusive and with a view to new technologies. Their first model has been the Cupra Ateca, but they have really taken the Seat Ateca and modified it.
Several months ago they commented that Cupra would launch a total of seven models by 2021, although as we already mentioned in this other article, this statement had a bit of a “trap”. It seems that the next to arrive will be the Cupra Formentor, a 245 hp hybrid SUV. Now with this teaser that they just left us, it seems that they are already planning one more, and could be the Cupra Leon.
It is still early, but it would not be surprising if the company plans to present a prototype of what would be the next Cupra León, so we would also be seeing many details of the future Seat León. In a short clip uploaded to social networks, they invite us to stay tuned, pointing out the date of the July 22, 2019ie next Monday.
Few are the clear features that we can appreciate in this short video, but practically we can highlight that it is a new SUV by the shape of the body, which does not seem too high and stands out for its dynamic silhouette. The few details that we see on the front show a high degree of sportiness due to its shapes, which are really sharp.
It is because of this last detail, because of the sharp shapes, that the idea that it is "only" a prototype gains more strength. More than anything because today it would be difficult for these forms to be approved, since they would not be exactly safe in case of being run over. In addition, the Youtube video has been directly titled as cupra concept.
We will have to wait until next week to see what it is, but everything seems to indicate that it could really be a prototype -more or less close to production- of the aforementioned cupra leon; which will be the brand's compact sports car. Now the question remains whether, like the Formentor, it will be a plug-in hybrid or if, on the contrary, it will resort to more traditional mechanics. We will see…
