El Mexican F1 GP 2021 It started with free practice 1 and 2 somewhat bumpy with scares from Sergio Pérez, among others, although without too serious consequences. For Charles Leclerc it was also a Friday to forget, with an incident at the beginning as a Czech, with many problems. On the other hand, McLaren and Williams have had problems with the gearbox, things that don't help to fulfill the program, but that won't affect qualifying and the race, since they are Friday components.
During the free practice sessions of the Mexican GP, some pretty strong mercedes, making a double in this first session and with Max Verstappen in third position. As for the Spanish, Carlos Sainz has been able to put the Ferrari in 6th position, although it could be a somewhat complicated weekend for them, and it remains to be seen where the two McLarens will be, since on Fridays they hide a lot and will be tough competitors for the Maranello team. The same with Alpha Tauri, who could also be strong here and be in the Top10. As for Alpine, it seems that they are not doing so well, so going into Q3 and the points will not be easy. Fernando Alonso finished 7th in FP1, but it's just training...
In free practice 2 of the Mexican GP the opposite happened. The Mercedes and Red Bull battle looks intense here, and we don't really know who will take pole tomorrow in qualifying or who will take victory in Sunday's race. The World Cup is very tight, and anything could happen. In the past it was a Mercedes circuit, but we have already seen that this dynamic has been broken this year, and they have not been as competitive on circuits that were apparently easy for them. Many unknowns still.
In fact, in FP2, Max Verstappen has managed to put his Red Bull in first position, with the best time taking half a second from Lewis Hamilton, although this could not be real in the face of what we will see tomorrow. In this session we have seen that Carlos Sainz was the best of the rest, in 5th place, and Alonso could only be 10th this time (and Esteban Ocon was 14th, which is not good news for the French team). Alpha Tauri, McLaren and even Aston Martin could make it difficult on this Mexican GP track.
