F1 United States Grand Prix 2018: Race Results

Kimi in the 2018 Ferrari

Starts on F1 United States GP 2018 at the Austin circuit, this time in the dry, like yesterday's qualifying. Lewis Hamilton started on pole but they didn't have everyone with them because they don't have the fastest car, especially on the straight, as Ferrari is very strong here. Sebastian was 2nd yesterday but due to his penalty he was 5th. All good, but Hamilton lost his position as soon as he started, since Kimi Räikkönen made a great start, he was able to pass him by the superiority of the Ferrari and even open some gap. However, Hamilton has always been close to victory, but in the end he was unable to beat the Finn who took a well-deserved victory today in the USA and Hamilton also lost to Max.

Max Verstappen yesterday, between a few things and the penalties, he started 18th today, a bad position that in the end due to his lap times he managed to reverse today. Max has done a very good and mature driving as his team leader, Christian Horner, has been in charge of reminding him on the radio. And it is that despite starting so far behind he has been able to finish on the podium, nothing more and nothing less than 2nd, letting us see that if he had not had a penalty he could have won. His teammate did not go so well, Daniel Ricciardo was doing well but his car said enough after a few laps, with a problem that seemed more hydraulic. It's a shame what Ricciardo is suffering with reliability in this last stretch of the calendar.

Alonso USA 2018

At the start there were many touches and incidents, like the ones we have seen with Grosjean involved with his Haas, something that already seems to be a trend in the American team that was unable to finish the race with both cars in front of their fans. Lance Stroll has also done his thing and he took Fernando Alonso ahead after the start, something that made it difficult for him to abandon the Asturian on the first lap, since his pontoon was completely destroyed and the damage to the car did not allow him to continue. A pity because he came out 12th due to the customizations of one and the other and he had the points close. Stroll has received a sanction, but that does not prevent what he has done. Something that Fernando has been in charge of saying on the radio, that there are certain pilots with whom you cannot race due to his bad actions...

Interesting that Alonso wanted to test a new camera inside the helmet along with Bell, but the FIA has not allowed him because he considers that the image does not meet the minimum quality requirements, it seems that he is preparing something special for his last GP in F1, perhaps that camera to see what the two-time champion's eyes saw in your last date. Carlos Sainz has also received a +5 second penalty that has hurt him for gaining an advantage after the start by going off the line. Something that Vettel has also done but has not received the same punishment. However, we already know that customizations are not usually equal for everyone... By the way, a Vettel who has once again made a fairly serious mistake that could well have cost him the race. The German rushed into an overtaking again and when he came into contact with the other car he spun, losing many positions. One more of Vettel who will surely see how in Italy they pull his ears again.

Next appointment soon, so don't fall asleep. The 26 and October 28 will return with the Mexican GP. By the way, and I'm done with this, it seems that the FIA has banned cars from mounting the 2019 wings in free practice and end-of-season testing. Something that Williams has already done and has an advantage because it already knows something about them, but the rest will not be able to do it, so they will have to be guided only by the data from the simulator, CFD and wind tunnel...
