Brazilian F1 Grand Prix 2017: Qualifying Results

Hamilton at the Brazilian GP

El Brazilian F1 GP 2017 continues with the truce of the weather, today the classification in the dry. We have seen how some riders, like yesterday, had some scares due to the complicated situation of the track. The track was green and the lack of rubber has caused many drivers to have problems on their flying laps. Most without serious consequences, but the one who has been most affected was Lewis Hamilton, who in the first lap saw his qualifying session come to an end. The car has gone from behind and has hit the wall, without consequences for him but the car has been damaged and therefore tomorrow he will leave completely behind. A shame as he was the clear favorite to take pole today. Can you imagine that this happens when the World Cup was not yet defined? In that case I would have put it on a plate for Vettel...

On the other hand, we have also learned today that McLaren was the only team to refuse to continue with shark fin next year in meetings held by all the teams to determine next year's regulations. The reason is unknown, but without unanimity the shark fin will not be worn next year, so to the prohibition of the monkey seat and the t-wing, now we also remove the shark fin for next year from the hand of McLaren . The element helps the cars, but it is also a challenge, since with side winds it can be very damaging in the corners. Well, in 2018 it will not be present either, we will see that the equipment is invented to supply these elements that are going to be eliminated, but in principle we will have cleaner and simpler cars, although aerodynamic elements will surely be added in other parts to compensate for the absence of these . It will be interesting to see the new look of next year's cars.

Ferrari 2017

Well, going back to the sessions, to say that free practice 3 have passed without anything very remarkable to report. The times have been very tight and there were barely a few thousandths between some times that have been made in the FP3. Remember that it is a short circuit and therefore the times are closer together than in longer ones. Another of the striking things have been the tires and the state of the track. In practice 3 we have seen almost better times than in Q1, and all the cars opted for the tire softest while Ferrari did it with the hardest for this first stage of qualifying. Not everyone has found great differences between one Pirelli compound and another, hence the reason that the vast majority rode the softer ones from the beginning instead of using harder compounds and saving the softer ones only for the end.

As for the the spanish pilots, to say that Fernando Alonso has been able to make a very good time, finishing 7th today and that I hope that tomorrow it will turn into points and not happen as usual, that due to differences in power he will finally be left behind to the back and finally finish outside the points or in the worst case retiring due to mechanical problems. On the other hand, Carlos Sainz is having a very good time at Renault, and today he was also able to sneak into Q3 among the Top10 to finish one tenth behind his teammate. Carlos has positioned himself 9th and his partner Hülkenberg has been 8th. We will see tomorrow what both drivers can do and if they also finish in the points.

By the way, as a final reflection, to say that Carlos, Max, Esteban, Stoffel and even the Toro Rosso drivers are doing well, but Lance Stroll continues to raise his head and today he was once again 1 second behind Massa... maybe it's problems to adapt to the car, but I hope that next year it will do better or it could be the new Jolyon Palmer, especially knowing that Paul Di Resta and Robert Kubica are in Williams' orbit. Given the positions of Charles and Alonzo I don't know if I want rain or not, since if the start is more chaotic there could be touches and leave them out of the game. So I hope it will be calmer and that finally both can score points, the more the better. Though on second thought… a bit of rain and action would never hurt the audience. Don't you think? We say goodbye until tomorrow, when we will bring the results and the summary of the race. A cordial greeting!
