BMW began its journey in the SUV segment several years ago with the arrival of the first generation of the BMW X5. A lot of time has passed since then, taking a brutal turn in the car market. After that X5 came the X3, with more compact dimensions, and later the BMW X1, X6 and X4 would appear, with more sporty and coupé-style silhouettes for the latter two. Today a long-awaited member of the Bavarian house is presented, the BMW X2.
But a few minutes ago, just a few hours before BMW's compact SUV was officially unveiled, these leaked images have come to light and fully reveal the appearance of this new urban SUV. Although at this time we still do not have official information, we can already say that the BMW X2 inherit the concept design unveiled by the firm at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
Taking a look at its bodywork, we see that the new BMW X2 has a style of its own and quite differentiated from the rest of the products of the German house. Result much more sporty than the BMW X1, with sharper lights optics, more aggressive shapes and a very different design of the typical kidneys that preside over the front of all the brand's products. The aesthetics of this new product together with the M-package which seems to receive the unit from the images suits you like a glove to the BMW X2. Also, the rims are huge. For its part, the interior did not want to be so different from the X1, following the usual trend of the latest BMW models.
We can guess that this BMW X2 will take the same platform as the BMW X1, which has provenance from MINI; Well, remember that both brands belong to the same manufacturer. In this way, the X2 will also use the front-wheel drive to transmit the energy of its mechanics to the asphalt. We hope that the mechanical range is very similar to that of the aforementioned X1, but also that its dynamics is more sporty in the protagonist of these lines. With a bit of luck, maybe some variant arrives tuning by BMW Motorsport and, therefore, with the sports acronym of the brand that we like so much, the “M”.
