As we anticipated, this year the Gorbea team from the Mendizabala Institute will attend the first edition of the EcoCity, which will take place on days 13, 14 and 15 for April 2012 on an urban circuit through the capital. This event tries to show the possibilities and scope of renewable energies in the automotive sector, in the style of the Shell Eco Marathon in which we will be present.
Madrid EcoCity, is the first international urban competition in Spain. This is an energy efficiency competition where the winner is the one who travels the greatest distance possible with a single liter of fuel. The measurements will be km per liter for combustion vehicles and km/KWh for electric vehicles. There will be two categories: urban concept and prototypes.
A total of will participate 22 equipment: 4 Portuguese, 3 Italians and the rest Spanish. Of those 20 cars, five will be gasoline, four with Ethanol 95, four with hydrogen, as many plug-in electric cars and four more that will work with solar energy. There will only be one diesel.
We will be there with interesting news in our vehicle to try to improve ourselves, qualify with a good result and gain experience for the Shell Eco Marathon in Rotterdam.
