AMG, whose initials respond to (A) Aufrech, surname of one of its creators, (M) Melcher, the other creator of the brand, and (G) Grossaspach, Aufrecht's birthplace, was created in 1967 in a small mill in Burgstall an der Murr, a town near Stuttgart, Germany.

After 50 years of the creation of AMG, Mercedes will manufacture a limited edition as a celebration of its AMG GT3. This special edition, of which only five units will be produced, will be called Edition 50, and will receive a special paint coat never before seen on an AMG model, with a matt finish for the rear diffuser and front spoiler, both made of carbon fiber, the air intakes and the front grille.

In addition to painting, this 50 Edition It will have logos on both the windshield and the side, making it clear that it is a special version of the AMG GT3. Mercedes will also add a special exhaust system.

Inside we will meet, if we are lucky enough to see one of the five that will be produced, with seat belts on which "50 years of driving performance" is written, as well as a carbon fiber finish on the door panels, instrument panel and center console.

In addition to the car IWC Schaffhausen, a Swiss watch brand, will manufacture 250 units of a limited edition watch called “Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition 50th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG”, 5 of which will be awarded to the lucky five who can get their hands on the AMG GT3 Edition 50.

The celebration of these 50 years of AMG will culminate with the entrance on stage of its Mercedes AMG Project One, a supercar inspired by F1 single-seaters that will be released in the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.
