NEVS, what remains of the mythical Saab, for sale due to lack of liquidity...

There are those who say that destiny is written and there are those who say that destiny is forged day by day with the decisions we make. Be that as it may, there are companies that, for one reason or another, seem to be doomed to repeat the same mistakes. Do you remember Saab? The legendary Swedish firm, Volvo's natural rival, is one of those that has suffered the most in recent years. Especially since General Motors went bankrupt in 2009 and sold it to the highest bidder without thinking about it.

From then until today it has passed through several hands. First Spyker, then to the portfolio of a Chinese investment fund, and finally these were acquired by Evergrande Group. The fact is that the last time we talked about NEVS, or Saab, was a little over a year ago. The reason was none other than the debut of the Sango, an electric and autonomous vehicle for the urban mobility of the future. Now, they come back to the present because they could sink again.

NEVS is focused on building its PONS mobility ecosystem. Will it be able to…?

NEVS Sango - PONS Mobility Ecosystem 2020 6

We have been hearing for a long time rumors about the poor financial situation of Evergrande Group. In theory we were dealing with an industrial conglomerate that, among its many activities, was dedicated to the construction of houses in China. Well, it seems that the Asian country is experiencing a bubble (similar to the one we already live in our country) and they cannot carry out the projects they had committed to due to lack of funds.

The point is that this lack of liquidity is affecting all areas that make up the conglomerate. NEVS is one of those that would be having the worst time, since it would be on the hunt for new partners or a parent company that would take charge of it and its operations. Among the most notable is the development of the PONS autonomous mobility ecosystem that we have already told you about. In fact Stefan Tilk, head of NEVS, says that there are already firms interested in acquiring it.

According to Tilk told Reuters, about the NEVS situation…

«We are in dialogue both with people at risk and with companies who have the same idea and direction as us and want to get in on this with all our competition" "So they are industrial partners and venture capitalists"

At the moment the situation is very complicated because NEVS had to lay off 650 workers last August. Their managers say that if Evergrande can solve their economic problems they would hire them again, but nothing is clear. We will have to be very careful, because it hits us in the nose that this is the lace that will make disappear forever what was left of the Saab of our dreams...
