Kia Stonic, revolution in the segment of urban crossovers

Hardly a few hours have passed since we told you that the Kia Stonic would start its marketing next July when the brand has fully and officially revealed. This new model reaches a segment B-SUV that grows by leaps and bounds, representing currently 7% of the market European with 1,1 million units, although the line of growth makes us anticipate that by 2020 it will be much higher, when in theory about 2 million units will be registered.

There is no better example of this than the upcoming additions of models such as the Volkswagen T-Roc, Hyundai Kona or Seat Arona, which will debut in just a few months, in addition to those already consolidated Nissan Juke o Renault Captur. These will be Tough competitors for the new Kia model, which seeks a clear differentiation from most of its rivals with a very daring design, as much as that of its Hyundai cousin, the Kona, previously mentioned.

Focusing on this Kia Stonic, the new Asian product has been developed in Europe with the collaboration of Korean designers, who have opted for a horizontal design but also with bold lines and a raised waist. One of its main strengths is the wide range of options in terms of personalization, something that customers who are looking for an urban car that is distinctive at the same time like very much. According to the Asian firm there will be 20 combinations available for the exterior, with 5 different colors for the roof, also obtaining a load capacity of 352 liters, slightly below the Kona.

Regarding the offer of engines, the new Kia Stonic will receive engines from gasoline MPI (atmospheric) of 1.25 and 1.4 liters, as well as the 1.0 Turbo direct injection that will yield 120 CV. Although Kia has not yet wanted to confirm the versions diesel specific, if you have made it clear that the chosen engine block is the 1.6 CRDi, which can probably be purchased in versions of 110 and 136 hp. At the moment, it seems that everyone will resort to front-wheel drive, being able to be associated with manual and automatic changes depending on the versions.
