Very soon there will be a BMW X3 M on the market with about 475 hp

Recreation of BMW X3 M

El BMW X3 received a generational change at the end of 2017 that is already available on the market. It is currently available with several diesel and gasoline mechanics, whose powers range from 150 hp to 265 hp. In the first two generations, the BMW X3 never had any high-performance variant, although it did have the 40 hp M360i version. However, according to rumours, everything seems to indicate that soon we will see an extreme BMW X3 M.

The two images that accompany this article are not official, but they are quite successful recreations of what that future BMW X3 M would look like. As we can see, aesthetically it inherits the sporting traits that we are so accustomed to seeing in the M models of the Bavarian firm, with aggressively shaped bumpers and notable air intakes, a combination of chrome trim and black details, specific wheels and, of course, a quad exhaust outlet at the rear.

According to our colleagues from motor.es, BMW intends to launch M variants in virtually each and every one of its models, following a strategy similar to that carried out by Audi and its S and RS models. It would therefore not be surprising if, in time, the famous M lettering would also appear, for example, on other vehicles of the brand such as the new BMW X2. Who knows.

Recreation of BMW X3 M

In the case of this case BMW M X3, under the front hood would be located the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine of cubic capacity and supercharging already known in the company for making an appearance in performance cars such as the BMW M3 and M4. The goal is to rival the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, which with its V8 delivers 476 hp and in the S version (Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S), reaches 510. It will not reach the levels of the AMG GLC 63 S, since will be content with approximately 450 hp.

But in addition to the above, our colleagues say that the BMW X3 M will be the first SUV of the Munich brand to have the Competition Pack. As with all other M models that can be equipped with this package of even higher performance, the X3 M would receive even greater exclusivity and differentiation based on visual elements such as specific wheels or bucket seats, but, above all, it would gain in dynamism by taking a set-up and components more focused on use and enjoyment on the track. To this should be added about 20 or 30 hp more for the 3.0-liter engine, so it would yield about 475 hp.

In the meantime, let's remember that a few months ago they appeared rumors about an Audi RS Q5 that could be in the plans of the Ingolstadt firm and that, if it materializes, it would resort to 2.9 V6 engine currently used by the Audi RS 4 and Audi RS 5. Do you know what power they develop? Exact, 450 CV. Therefore, if BMW and Audi are "encouraged" to market these products, the fight of this German trio would be present in one more category; that of high-performance D-SUVs, not forgetting the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio and its 510 hp. Sounds very appetizing, right?
