Renault Alaskan concept, preparing the pick-up for 2016

Renault Alaskan pick-up concept

The new generation of the Nissan Navara will serve as the basis for two pick ups plus. On one side is the mercedes pickup and on the other, that of Renault. The French will take advantage of the Frankfurt Motor Show to show us the prototype of their pick-up, the Renault Alaskan. After the Renault Duster Oroch, the Renault Alaskan (if it is finally marketed under this name) will be the second pick-up and the largest of the brand.

Although with characteristic features of the prototypes, such as 21″ wheels, the Renault Alaskan already lets intuit the current design language which is being used by the brand through the renewed grille and headlights, which in the prototype are LED technology. The Renault Alaskan is part of Renault's new light commercial vehicle plan, as it is a model with which they hope to gain market share. The arrival on the market of the production version is scheduled for the first half of 2016.

The prototype does not use the engines present in the Nissan Navara. Instead adopt the 2.3 twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine that mount the Renault Master. In this way, Renault tries to find the best response from the mechanics thanks to a turbo that blows at low revolutions and another at high speeds, as well as greater efficiency.

Renault has revealed few details about its new model, but in the statement it clarifies that they will be offered different bodies and engines as well as versions for work and leisure. The Renault Alaskan will have a cargo capacity of more than a ton and will be able to carry up to five passengers.

Among the technologies typical of the prototypes, this Renault Alaskan concept has a camera in the mirrors that allows you to record the landscape through which we are circulating. Renault also talks about a lot of equipment and connectivity, which will be present in the production model.
