Months ago we tried the SsangYong Korando (experiment) in his national presentation, and with a few weeks of difference we got behind the wheel of his little brother, the ssangyong tivoli (experiment), in a transfer of several days. The Spanish subsidiary of this South Korean brand has given some LPG models, transforming them when the customer demands it at the dealership, which is why they have managed to increase their sales.
Now the new Korando and Tivoli are already available with Liquefied petroleum gas from the dealer. Although it is not a transformation that has been carried out from the SsangYong factory itself, everything comes certified and with its corresponding guarantee. Of course, how could it be otherwise, the customer already receives his new car with everything approved on the file and with the DGT Eco sticker stuck on the windshield.
This LPG-adapted variant offered by SsangYong for Tivoli and Korando is combined exclusively with the 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, which is commercially referred to as G15T. Said mechanics develops 163 hp in the Tivoli, while in the Korando it offers two different powers: 149 hp for manual and front-wheel drive variants, going to 163 hp if it is four-wheel drive and/or automatic transmission.
The LPG versions now presented have a 50-litre gas tank, equipping the liquefied petroleum gas tank that has a capacity of 46 liters in the Tivoli and 57 in the case of the Korando. Logically, autonomy is considerably increased and we can circulate indistinctly with one fuel or another.
These versions adapted to LPG, which SsangYong markets as "bi-fuel" have a extra cost of 2.050 euros versus identical petrol variants. If we mainly use gas, it is not complicated to amortize that amount. The SsangYong Tivoli LPG part of the 15.550 euros in its most accessible version, while the cheapest SsangYong Korando LPG costs 19.550 euros.
