Subaru will sell its BRZ 2023 in Spain, but only guarantees 50 units

Did you miss the train Toyota GR86? Don't worry: you still have one opportunity to get a brand new pure sports car at a reasonable price. This is the Subaru GT 2023, a car practically identical to the aforementioned Toyota, since both were developed at the same time and share almost all their components. The second generation of This coupe with a gasoline engine, manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive will finally arrive in Spain (something that was not foreseen), but it will do so with a very short production run: barely 50 copies for the entire region. The order opening date has not been communicated.

Subaru has confirmed that it will bring fifty copies of its emblematic BRZ to our country. The first generation of this model was sold in Spain between 2012 and 2019. Its new edition, improved in all aspects over the original, was presented in 2021, although initially it was announced that Europe would never receive supply as it was a vehicle outside of the brand's corporate strategy in this territory. Finally and with the purpose of reinforce the image of the firm in the Old Continent, the Japanese company has agreed to supply the nation with 50 units. The price of each starts at $39.500, which is not bad at all when you take into account what it offers in terms of driving sensations.

In essence two things have motivated Subaru to launch the new BRZ here, against all odds: the sales success experienced by the GR 86 for a short period of time and the beginning of the commercialization of the solterra, an electric SUV that will lower the manufacturer's average emissions from now on (it will not be its only product of this type), offsetting those of the rest. Regardless of the reason, the sports car in question is characterized by its concept of purity and technical tradition without more concessions to the advances of the automotive industry than those strictly necessary by current regulations. So much so that will stop building in 2024, when it is modified.

In front of the cabin is installed a naturally aspirated engine (without turbo) of gasoline and boxer architecture with four cylinders and 2,4 liters of displacement. Yields a maximum of 234 CV of power and 250 Nm of torque. This is associated with a 6-speed manual transmission that sends all the force to rear axle, sole drive. Thanks to this mechanical assembly, said Subaru can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6,3 seconds and reach a top speed of 226 km/h. The truth is that they are not remarkable performance figures, but the way in which they are delivered is, as well as their dynamic behavior. In addition, the BRZs that land in Spain will be equipped with a generous equipment. The client will only be able to choose the paint for the bodywork.
