Since the official launch of the Suzuki Jimny, back in 2018, customers around the world have been captivated by this car. It took time to be exported from its country of origin, but the high demand from other markets managed to reach Europe and Oceania. Likewise, a body with five doors was demanded, and a few hours ago it was presented.
Suzuki has launched the 5-door Jimny. Will we see it in other markets? To be honest, we would be delighted to see it come to Europe, because we have always found it a really interesting product and, above all, at a relatively acceptable price. Meanwhile, we are going to know what this new body offers us in the peculiar SUV of the Japanese firm.
The first thing to note is that the body of the Suzuki Jimny grows up to 3,98 meters long, with a wheelbase of 2,59 meters. Yes, it is a longer car with a longer wheelbase, which translates into a more space for the second row of seats, more cargo capacity and, above all, gains in practicality when accessing the rear seats. The width is 1,65 meters and the height is 1,72.
At the mechanical level maintains the 1.5 liter gasoline engine with atmospheric admission -without turbo-; while the gearbox can be a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
Visually it inherits all the features of its three-door brother. That is to say, we continue to see a very square aesthetic, with its grille with vertical slats, round headlights and very marked protections both on the bumpers, as well as on the stirrups and wheel arches. Nor is the spare wheel on the trunk door, granting a clear 4×4 identity.
Beyond the greater breadth and better access, inside it is a complete copy of the short body. We continue to see a very rough design, which is undoubtedly a success for a car that will face numerous battles off the field, with all that that entails.
For the moment, Suzuki has confirmed that this new Suzuki Jimny 5-door it will be exported from Maruti Suzuki India Limited to Africa and Latin America. Will it also come to Europe? I wish.
