The Renault Mégane GT debuts a new diesel engine

The fourth generation of the Renault Mégane, the best seller of the French diamond brand, reached the European market at the beginning of this current year 2016. For now, the sportiest trim level on the compact is the GT, also being the most expensive. Eye, let's not confuse it with the GT-Line, which is another equipment that focuses sportsmanship on aesthetics.

So far, the Renault Mégane GT was only offered with the TCe petrol engine with 205 hp, version that we tested precisely during the presentation of the vehicle. In a market where a good part of the compact ones are marketed with diesel mechanics, the diamond brand knew that it should also introduce a diesel version to expand the range of potential customers. And so it has been, introducing a diesel mechanic 165 hp in keeping with the sporty finish.

It is a four-cylinder diesel with a block of 1.600 cubic centimeters and 16 valves, in addition to turbocharging and direct fuel injection, being the same engine that powers some versions of the Reanult Espace and Talisman. Unlike these two models, in the Mégane GT it delivers 5 more CV, reaching the aforementioned 165 CV. Its maximum torque is 380 Nm, quite high, and is from 1.750 rpm. Meanwhile, its approved consumption is 4,6 l / 100 km in the 5-door body and 4,7 for the family Sport Tourer. It should be remembered that all Mégane GT incorporate, as standard, the 4Control system four-wheel drive to improve the agility of French tourism.

Although still We do not know the exact prices for the Spanish market or the date of your arrival, this dCi engine is already available in the Renault Mégane GT of our French neighbors, for a price of EUR 34.300 for the 5-door and 35.200 euros for the family body. That is, about 2.000 euros more expensive than the gasoline variant and 205 hp in France. In this way, if the difference in price is identical between diesel and gasoline in Spain and France, we can guess a price of about 27.500 euros in the five-door and 28.300 in the Mégane Sport Tourer GT.
