V16 geolocated, the new "gadget" that replaces the emergency triangles

v16 geolocated

Since last December 20, 2022, the use of v16 beacons connected to the DGT is already allowed instead of triangles. These portable V16 emergency lights have an NB-IoT connection and a geolocation system that sends the distress signal to the traffic authorities anonymously when the driver turns on the beacon.

As indicated in the Royal Decree of Roadside Assistance dated July 1, 2021, modified and approved on December 20, 2022, the new connected V16 device is already authorized to be used in the event of breakdowns, accidents or incidents that force us to stop our vehicle on the road. This new system, a pioneer in all of Europe, allows vehicles to be connected to the DGT 3.0 platform of the General Directorate of Traffic, reporting the vehicle's location on Spanish roads in real time. The regulations establish the mandatory nature of this V16 emergency light for all vehicles as of January 1, 2026, the date from which neither the emergency triangles nor the unconnected beacons may be used.

In this regard, the General Directorate of Traffic has already published a list of the connected V16 beacons that are approved, thus certifying that they meet all the requirements for their commercialization. Among them is the beacon PF Led One V16 connected, from the manufacturer Erum Vial, which has been approved under the approval certificate number LCOE2023010084G1 issued by the Official Central Electrotechnical Laboratory - LCOE.

The v16 PF LED ONE emergency light will be available in large supermarkets, gas stations and centers specializing in automotive mechanics in the coming weeks. Users will have a connected and approved product that includes data connectivity until 2038, with an official 12-year product guarantee.

According to Erum Vial, the company that has developed the new PF Led ONE V16 beacon, the emergency light will allow the position of the incident to be directly connected to the DGT platform 3.0 through manual activation by the user, which reduces error warnings by connect the beacon automatically, in cases of failure or accident. Thanks to this communication, traffic managers will know first-hand how many vehicles have suffered breakdowns or accidents on the road, their location, and be able to notify the emergency services or roadside assistance so that they come to the place as soon as possible, which also reduces risk to other users.

Once the data of the driver who has suffered the incident is received, the DGT 3.0 platform will notify users who circulate on those roads of the incident, alerting them to the risk so that they exercise extreme caution, which will reduce the danger of being run over. As determined in the Royal Decree on Roadside Assistance, from 2026, v16 beacons must necessarily include geolocation in order to send this emergency signal to the platform.

The geolocation of the PF Led ONE V16 beacon is instantaneous, it connects after 100 seconds once activated, so the response time of roadside assistance services is shortened compared to traditional tools and methods.

More and more drivers are already enjoying the advantages of using a geolocated V16 beacon as PF Led ONE which includes the connection with the DGT 3.0 platform and provides greater security than the old emergency triangles. To acquire it, you can do it through of the web.
