In this regard, the General Directorate of Traffic has already published a list of the connected V16 beacons that are approved, thus certifying that they meet all the requirements for their commercialization. According to Erum Vial, the company that has developed the new PF Led ONE V16 beacon, the emergency light will allow the position of the incident to be directly connected to the DGT platform 3.0 through manual activation by the user, which reduces error warnings by connect the beacon automatically, in cases of failure or accident. Thanks to this communication, traffic managers will know first-hand how many vehicles have suffered breakdowns or accidents on the road, their location, and be able to notify the emergency services or roadside assistance so that they come to the place as soon as possible, which also reduces risk to other users.
Once the data of the driver who has suffered the incident is received, the DGT 3.0 platform will notify users who circulate on those roads of the incident, alerting them to the risk so that they exercise extreme caution, which will reduce the danger of being run over. As determined in the Royal Decree on Roadside Assistance, from 2026, v16 beacons must necessarily include geolocation in order to send this emergency signal to the platform.
