For several days we have been waiting with some impatience for the arrival of the updated Volkswagen Arteon. The main reason is that the coupé saloon adds with this update a new bodywork that has been cooking for some time in the brand's kitchen. And yes, the new one has finally been unveiled Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake.
The day has arrived. The Arteon is now offered in two body styles. The traditional coupé saloon is more elegant and dynamic, but the Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake barely loses points in those two characteristics along with gain a lot of practicality in charging. A good combination of aesthetics and habitability.
El makeover brings some aesthetic changes, especially on the front, they are not too shy. Some details in the headlights, a little makeup on the bumpers and other slight variations. For his part, the cabin It has received some improvements and modifications, such as the air conditioning system, the steering wheel, the air outlets and even the materials used. A digital instrument panel and a 9,2-inch touch screen are not missing.
Shooting Brake; more space and practicality
Volkswagen comments that the Shooting Brake enjoys a few millimeters more than headroom, which is appreciated since the Arteon saloon does not stand out precisely in that aspect. In addition, it will be even more appreciated in the second row of seats, where people of 1,80 in height already rub their heads on the ceiling.
Seeing the images of the two bodies we can get used to the idea that the Arteon Shooting Brake will have much more trunk, but there is a surprise. Cargo space only grows by 2 liters. And it's not a joke! The saloon covers 563 liters up to the height of the tray while the SB it has 565 litres.
However, and although the previous data may collide, it must be taken into account that the ease of loading and unloading It is simpler in this new sports family body. Of course, if we load the trunk completely, removing the tray, the Shooting Brake allows us to transport more objects. Knocking down the seats we have 1.557 liters for Arteon and 1.632 liters for Arteon SB.

The doubt is quite logical and intelligent, but the truth is that, although its sales are contained, the Arteon provides that aesthetic and sporty plus that the Volkswagen Passat cannot provide. You already know that the Passat is more classic and is committed to a more comfort-oriented behavior. They are geared towards different customers.
Mechanical news: a Hybrid and an Arteon R arrive
Leaving aside the new bodywork and moving on to the mechanics, it is important to highlight its two main novelties. In the first place appears in the model's portfolio -both in Arteon and in Arteon Shooting Brake- a Volkswagen Arteon Hybrid. On the other hand, and also in both bodies, a high-performance variant finally debuts, the Volkswagen Arteon R. Starting with the variants of gasoline, the offer starts with a block of 1.400 cubic centimeters that develops 150 hp, positioning itself as the access version. Above is the 2.0 TSI engine, which is offered in powers of 190, 280 and up to 320 hp for the Volkswagen Arteon R sports car.
On the other hand, the offer diesel, which can continue to be highly recommended depending on the type of customer and their routines, revolves around the 2.0 TDI, which is available with powers of 150 and 200 hp.
To finish off the range of possibilities debuts the plug-in hybrid system. This PHEV uses the 1.4 TSI engine and is supported by an electric drive system, producing a maximum power of 218 hp. It is enough power and, if the car is used logically and its batteries are recharged daily, we will significantly reduce pollution. Obviously in Spain you will have the DGT Zero emissions label.
Prices and launch?
At the moment Volkswagen has not confirmed the exact date of arrival on the market for this restyling or the price list. We can get used to the idea that, most likely, it will be available at dealers after summer. When its commercial launch approaches, we will have access to the price list of all versions.
