during this summer Volkswagen presented a new member for its SUV range, the volkswagen taigo. It is a model with a certain crossover coupé style, born from the base of the VW Polo. The German firm intends to reach a younger and urban public in this way than with other similar models, such as the T-Cross.
Be that as it may, this week the starting signal has been given to the first units. The main positive detail is that this new product is also manufactured in the plant that the German firm has within our borders, in Navarra. There the aforementioned Polo and T-Cross are assembled together.
In fact, thanks to the arrival of the new volkswagen taigo to the Navarre plant, For the first time in its history, this factory will produce three different models simultaneously. And we remember that this factory was opened in 1984 with the Polo, a model that has continued to be manufactured uninterruptedly since that date.
Regarding the Volkswagen Taigo, it is the first model that the brand introduces in the small SUV coupé segment. You already know that small and medium-sized SUVs are those with the highest growth rates in recent years, both in Spain and in the rest of Europe.
And if we talk about the first unit that has left the assembly lines, it is a red Taigo in the sporty R-Line finish and with a fairly high-performance engine considering the dimensions of the car. It is the 1.5 TSI petrol, in a 150 hp version and with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox.
In case you're wondering, The Volkswagen Taigo currently has a starting price of 23.190 euros for the Spanish market according to configurator. It corresponds to the Life access finish and the 1.0 TSI three-cylinder mechanics with 95 hp, as well as the 5-speed manual transmission.
