The first generation starts in 2008 with the official name of Mercedes GLK. After a deep revision of the range by the Germans, the GLC takes its current name from the second generation, launched on the market in 2015 and later updated in 2019.

In the summer of 2022 the third edition will be launched on the market. All these innovations apply equally to the sports bodywork, the Mercedes GLC Coupe It arrives just a few months apart.

Technical characteristics of the Mercedes GLC

Despite being considered as a completely new generation, the GLC does not change the platform on which it is supported, using a modified version of the previous generation. Thanks to this, it retains its size between Mercedes GLA and Mercedes GLE.

That feature places it squarely in the European D-SUV category. With a slight increase in measurements, the GLC reaches the 4,72 meters long, 2,07 meters wide and 1,64 meters high. To these levels must be added a wheelbase of 2,89 meters, which translates into an interior space for a maximum of five passengers.

Three of them sit in a generously proportioned second row of seats, albeit limited by shoulder width and the presence of a prominent transmission tunnel. Regarding load capacity, the Mercedes GLC offers a minimum boot volume of 600 liters, 50 more than in the previous generation (470 liters for PHEV models).

Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Mercedes GLC

Mercedes has ambitious electrification plans. In the future, the German brand will only offer highly electrified models. With that idea in mind, the new generation of the GLC says goodbye to traditional thermal versions. The mechanical offer revolves around models with MHEV systems with an ECO label and PHEV versions with a ZERO label. If you want a 100% electric model, you should jump to the Mercedes EQC.

The access versions arrive recognized under the names: GLC 200, GLC 300 and GLC 220d. Turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines that deliver between 197 and 258 horsepower. Later the GLC will have the specific versions developed by AMG, expecting powers above 500 horses for the most extreme versions. The entire range is associated with nine-speed automatic gearboxes that send power to all four wheels through Mercedes' 4MATIC drive system.

The most efficient versions of the house arrive associated with the plug-in hybrid mechanical. Three models available: GLC 300e, GLC 400e and GLC 300de, the latter with a diesel engine. The powers range between 313 and 385 horsepower. thanks to one battery of 31,2 kWh of useful capacity the approved autonomy ranges between 120 and 117 kilometers. The Mercedes GLC of Km 0 and Second Hand

Despite not having been on sale for many years, let us remember that since 2015, the Mercedes GLC has a high number of units available in secondary sales channels. In these years it has earned a well-deserved fame in terms of quality, behavior and durability. The high prices of new units make used units more attractive. That is why we observe a low depreciation percentage, very similar to that of its closest rivals.

If we take a look at second-hand market we see how the cheapest units for sale date from the years 2016 and 2017. Prices start at around 23 or 24 thousand euros for diesel units with more than 180.000 kilometers. The Km 0 market is also less popular, and all the units for sale are after the restyling of 2019. In this case, we see how the prices become considerably higher, always above 50.000 euros.
