It seems that despite the impressive figures of the Bugatti ChironIt wasn't sporty enough for some. For this reason, this brand of French origin has just put a remedy to it with the Pure Sport. A special edition that is not limited to the typical aesthetic touches that pay homage to this or that motoring landmark. It is a whole update in which they modify the suspension, aerodynamics, engine and many more.
the news arrives thanks to a leak published in Yahoo Sports, so Bugatti has not yet had time to issue an official statement. Despite this, they already know very specific details of the changes that this well-known Hypercar will have. The first of which is its imposing quad-turbocharged W16 engine of 8.0 liters and 1.500 hp, now will go up to 6.900 rpm. That is, 200 rpm for the owner to play with them as he pleases.
Chiron Mechanics Changes Pure Sport
This slight change is due to the recalibration of your automatic gearbox seven-speed (more would be unthinkable with the 1.600 Nm of torque it must support). Some modifications that also include that the first relationships are 15% shorter, to have a positive effect on power delivery and engine response. The result is that the Chiron Pur Sport is 40% more elastic compared to the standard model.
A virtually track-ready undercarriage
The next modification that those responsible for Bugatti have made is in the chassis. In case a car of these characteristics does not already have a hard suspension, this edition has some 65% stiffer front springs. The same goes for the rear springs that have been stiffened by 33% and the adaptive damping, which has been configured almost exclusively towards the performance.
In addition, the Chiron Pur Sport mounts some aero rims 16 kg lighter, designed to improve the car's aerodynamics and brake ventilation. These rims are surrounded by tires Bugatti Sport Cup 2R developed by Michelin just for this model, with a size of 285/30 R20 on the front axle and 355/25 R21 on the rear.
Another of the modifications that this model has received is found in the section on the brakes. To stop a car weighing nearly two tons, Bugatti has opted for several titanium components and some lighter discs. All this, together with the wheels that we have mentioned before, manages to reduce the weight of the Chiron Pur Sport by 19 kg compared to a normal model.
Finally, there are the bodywork changes. This Bugatti has a front aerodynamically optimized with larger openings, a wider horseshoe grille and a new diffuser. All this made in carbon fiber to not increase its weight on scale.
At the rear there are also important changes, including the 1,9 meter wide spoiler, which according to the brand generates "very significant amounts of downforce", without further specifying the data. The exhaust pipes made of 3D printed titanium they are also new, to reduce their weight and improve their resistance to extreme temperatures.

Bugatti will only put up for sale 16 units of the Chiron Pur Sport and will start manufacturing them from the second half of 2020. Each one will have a price of 3,2 million euros, VAT not included. A not too high cost if we take into account that to acquire the Chiron Sports “only” you have to pay 300.000 euros less.
It is very possible that this will be the last or, at least, the last special editions to be built of the Bugatti Chiron, since the arrival of his successor is scheduled for 2022. A relay that is not too much, considering that this car already has so many variants that it is difficult to keep track of all of them.
