Yesterday we were in the National Hospital for Paraplegics of Toledo, where Ford Adapta and Team Fordzilla presented important innovations in terms of adaptation for people with mobility needs. Ford showed off a fully-prepared electric Mustang Mach-e, while Team Fordzilla exhibited a simulator with adapted controls.
Regarding mustang mach-e, is the Ford's first 100% electric vehicle designed for people with reduced mobility. It represents a new milestone in the path of the company in the development of innovations that facilitate universal and sustainable mobility.
This electric car has driving assistance, grip accelerator and brake on the steering wheel, transfer table for the driver and electric rotating seat for the passenger. In addition, other adapted vehicles from the range were also shown, such as the Tourneo Custom Eurotaxi MHEV and the Transit 350 L3 MHEV.
The other great novelty, as we said, is the Simulator adapted from Team Fordzilla. Ford, together with Fundación ONCE, has developed Hi-Speed Simulators with the specialized company to obtain the first simulator with a wheel with rims like Ford Adapta vehicles in real life. "This innovation covers the needs of real and virtual drivers with reduced mobility of all types and conditions".
It is important to note that Jesús Alonso, President of Ford Spain, has announced that the simulator will be ceded to the National Hospital for Paraplegics of Toledo. It will be used to carry out therapeutic sessions and training for the return to driving. José Iglesias, manager of Team Fordzilla, will teach face-to-face virtual driving and simracing classes.
Finally, the range will be available for a contact at the Hospital and at Ford Toledo. All persons, organizations and entities interested in testing an adapted vehicle may do so on the following dates:
- From March 1 to 2 at the National Hospital for Paraplegics of Toledo
- From March 3 to 10 at Ford Toledo
