Kia presented just a couple of weeks ago the Let's EV9, but it showed an international version, not focused on our market. Now, the South Korean brand has already presented the final variant with European specification of its new electric flagship.
As we said at the time, the Kia EV9 is positioned as the brand's largest electric car. It is a 5-meter SUV that can carry seven occupants inside. For its part, the level of autonomy in the best of cases is estimated to be above 540 kilometers, while if we talk about powers, the higher performance version offers 385 hp with all-wheel drive.
The Kia EV9 is very straight, but achieves a very tight Cx
But let's start talking about the exterior design, because the Kia EV9 not only looks great, but also very futuristic. Look at the features so marked and the lines so straight that the designers have used on each of the four sides of this car. Despite these very straight shapes and square appearance, the drag coefficient is 0,28, much better than we could imagine.
In addition to the base model, Kia also wanted to show the GT Line finish for this new EV9. It has specific bumpers and wheels, as well as a color palette with black tones. No less important in GT Line is the front grill with lighting, which is now becoming very fashionable in many brands.
Double screen, minimalism and up to seven seats
Cubic shapes and straight lines are still very present in the passenger compartment, where a commitment is made to a clean, horizontal and minimalist dashboard. Of course, and as it seems a mandatory standard for any modern car, there is no shortage of screens. As can be seen in the images, there is a double screen, acting as a digital panel and multimedia system. The size of each one is 12,3 inches.
In any case, and we still need to get on and corroborate it, one of the notable points of the Kia EV9 is that it is the first seven-seater electric car of the brand. In fact, we can choose between six and seven seats, since the central row can be configured with two or three seats. Thus, the seating arrangement would be 2+2+2 or 2+3+2.
To this we must add that the first and second rows offer a high degree of seat recline, which can certainly come in handy for resting in a service area while we recharge the battery. Besides, center row seats can rotate 180 degrees to face the occupants in the third row.
Available engines
As we already knew, the Kia EV9 takes the E-GMP platform already seen in other cars of the manufacturer, such as the Hyundai ioniq 6 or Let's EV6, For example. In this new electric SUV with up to seven seats, two batteries, one with 76,1 kWh and another superior with 99,8 kWh; giving rise to three different mechanical options at the moment.
- standard RWD, with 160 kW (218 hp) and 350 Nm to do a 0 to 100 in 8,2 seconds
- RWD Long Range, with 150 kW (204 hp) and 350 Nm to cover 0 to 100 in 9,4 seconds
- AWD Long Range, with 283 kW (384 hp) and 600 Nm to go from 0 to 100 in 6 seconds
As far as autonomies It is concerned, the only information that Kia has provided is the one that we cited at the beginning. Are 541 kilometers of range for the RWD Long Range variant using 19 inch rim. Of the rest of the versions, for the moment they have not been pronounced.
We do know that this same variant with a 800 volt ultra-fast charging system, in approximately 15 minutes enough energy can be replenished to travel 239 km. Like other models of the Asian group, it incorporates V2L function, which allows up to 3,68 kW of power to be used to charge other electrical devices or even an electric car.
